News culture HBO is riding the House of the Dragon wave! This new Game of Thrones spin-off is revealed as season 2 is in full swing
While the first episodes of the second season of House of the Dragon have just aired, filming has just begun on a new spin-off of Game of Thrones. The production revealed the casting and a first image.
The adventures of Dunk and the Egg, adapted for the screen
Game of Thrones fans finally had the pleasure of discovering the new episodes of “House of the Dragon”, the spin-off series set centuries ago that tells the murderous war that tore apart the Targaryen dynasty. The first episodes have just been broadcast and so far we know a success that fell short of expectations.
However, HBO has not yet finished exploiting the world of George RR Martin. New texts by the author are being adapted for the screen and a new spin-off has been confirmed: this is the adaptation of Knight Errant, a short story that marks the beginning of the cycle of Dunk’s adventures and the “Oeuf”, the story that focuses on the relationship between Sir Duncan the Great and the future King Aegon V Targaryen.
Filming has begun
Currently, the Dunk and the Egg adventure cycle consists of three short stories published between 1998 and 2010. Series A takes place between House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones Knights of the Seven Kingdoms highlights two protagonists with closely linked fates. The first, Dunk, is a young knight errant who dreams of fame and nobility. He quickly meets the Egg, a small, frail boy who is none other than Aegon Targaryen, the future king of Westeros, who fled his family to realize his dream of becoming a squire.
Like many of George RR Martin’s texts, the legend of Dunk and the Egg is not yet complete, even if the story of these two characters is already broadly known. The author is producing and writing this new series with Ira Parker. And filming in Ireland has just begun. A first image revealing Dunk’s appearance has been released. We see actor Peter Claffey playing the character here. With his height of 1.95 meters, the actor seems to fit Dunk’s imposing figure perfectly. Besides him, Finn Bennett (True Detective: Night Country), Bertie Carvel (The Crown), Tanzyn Crawford (Tiny Beautiful Things), Daniel Ings (Sex Education) and Sam Spruell (Fargo) are already confirmed for casting. And it is the young Dexter Sol Ansell who will play Aegon in this adaptation, whose first season will consist of six episodes. See you next year at best to discover this new spin-off.
