news culture He accidentally reproduces an iconic scene from Spider-Man in full
The upside of living in the digital age is that one is increasingly encountering totally unlikely situations that are fortunately caught on video. So when a streamer accidentally re-enacts an iconic scene from Spider-Man live, it’s hilarious to watch.
A thought for Uncle Ben
If you’re used to watching a few English-language streamers, you might know EsfandTV. With his 1.2 million followers on Twitch, he inspires his viewers with live shows on a wide variety of topics. Sometimes he focuses on gaming, sometimes on sports, he also does IRL shows where he goes live with his camera. A few days ago something completely crazy happened to him during one of these lives that his viewers will not forget.
While strolling through a San Francisco mall, EsfandTV actually helped a thief escape, almost exactly like in Sam Raimi’s first Spider-Man movie. Recall that in the latter, while Peter Parker has just been scammed by a contractor specializing in wrestling, he lets a thief escape who comes out of the same office with the contents of the box, politely giving him his place in the elevator. If this action in the film was ultimately very voluntary, it wasn’t for poor EsfandTV in reality.
As you can see in this clip taken from his Twitch channel and posted to Reddit, while the streamer only appeared polite by holding the exit door open for another man, he was actually helping a thief escape. Shortly after the thief got out, two guards also followed him out of the store and shouted, “catch it! He just stole a computer!
After this event, a few seconds later, under the eyes of his hilarious cat, the streamer realizes what he has just done. He then makes the connection himself to the famous scene from Spider-Man, uttering aloud: “Oh shit, did I just make Uncle Ben holding the door for a thief? Oh dear God.“Fortunately, the two guards don’t seem to blame him and he had no concerns after that incident. However, it’s impossible to know if the thief was caught, or worse, if he ended up murdering the uncle of a young man who had just developed spider powers.
Spider-Man 2 back to school?
If this kind of news makes you delve back into the world of web-slingers and can’t wait for the arrival of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, you’ll be happy to know that its release might be set for the month of September! While we don’t have any official information outside of a release window planned for the fall, and have had since the first video clip aired a year and a half ago, One of the voice actors may have spilled the beans just yesterday.
On his own Twitter account Tony Todd (interpreter of Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2) has in fact revealed that the game is scheduled to be released in September and that it will be necessary to wait until August to see the panic of the advertising campaigns. Although his tweets have since been apparently deleted, it didn’t take long for the information to start circulating around the internet. So we’ll just have to wait until this summer to find out if dear Tony Todd had any good information…
