For a kid of the 80s and 90s, the Tiger electronic games are hard to miss. Offered in countless variations in the license colors popular at the time, these handheld games were ubiquitous. The catch was that the gameplay they offered was sketchy to say the least. Despite everything, their omnipresence means that some have retained the longing for them. In order to enable a better quality gaming experience while maintaining the appearance of the object, a modder has embarked on a project that is as unexpected as it is daring.
What could result from the cross between an electronic Tiger game and a Game Boy Advance? This is the answer YouTuber Chris Downing responded to. The latter indeed has one Tiger Boy Advance, a Game Boy Advance housed in the case of a Tiger game.
Like a normal Game Boy Advance, you can play GBA games, but also Game Boy and Game Boy Color games with this Tiger version. However, this is not an easy hull change. In fact, the modder has installed an IPS screen here, for example, which is better than that of the GBA. A more modern battery is also available here.
A Game Boy Advance with tiger sauce, you deserve it
In the video accompanying this article, Chris Downing describes the entire process of creating his Tiger Boy Advance. He therefore returns to the difficulties of designing and printing a tray of suitable rigidity and shape.
At first glance, you might think that your machine is as big as a normal Tiger game. In fact, it is much larger. In any case, the result is impressive. However, it is not certain that the playing comfort is optimal here.
The tragic fate of Tiger Electronics
For the record, the real Tiger Electronics released their own portable console called Tiger Game.com in the late 90s, the machine had ports of famous games like Resident Evil 2, Fighters Megamix, Duke Nukem 3D, Mortal Kombat Trilogy, etc.
But unfortunately the playful quality wasn’t there for its buyers. And, despite the release of a second model with the backlit screen, the experience didn’t last very long.
