The lack of a physical version of Hellblade 2 has already put a damper on some people. But before the release of the Xbox exclusive, another controversy erupts.
Are you ready to relive a rather unique and exhausting journey into Senua’s psyche? Hellblade 2 will be released on May 21, 2024 for Xbox Series X|S and PC. A suite that seems to push all the buttons to the limit and still offers a great soundscape. And thanks to the latest trailer or the pictures taken in photo mode, the technology is usually first-class. Or almost. An element confirmed in an interview is being discussed and is greatly disappointing some Internet users.
The Hellblade 2 experience will “not be entirely” smooth
In just over a month, you’ll be able to get your Xbox Series X | restart Storm your PC to discover Hellblade 2. The new chapter of Senua’s introspective journey. “Determined to save the victims of tyranny, Senua must fight to defeat the darkness of the world, but also her own darkness.” (via Xbox). Before the release, English studio Ninja Theory invited some media to try the game for the first time. And what stands out most in the first feedback is the visual quality of Hellblade 2. Our American colleagues from Polygon got a slap in the face. “The game I played on Xbox Series X is great”
Whether it’s the volumetric effects, the lighting, the modeling and expression of Senua, the realism of the locations and the precision of the textures, Hellblade 2 seems to be the expected technical showcase. However, there are some annoying issues like frame rate. While we might have expected other graphics modes like those excluded from competition or third-party games, the title won’t have any other than the one it runs under. And the problem is that Hellblade 2 will not exceed 30 fps on Xbox Series consoles.
30 fps without native 4K for Xbox Series X|S
Accordingly gamepro Those who were able to speak with the visual effects director were volunteers. “The visual effects director told us that we wanted the experience to be more ‘cinematic’ – similar to films running at 24 frames per second.” indicates the website. This will bring back good and bad memories for some, as The Order 1886 on PS4 had already made this decision. Additionally, like the latter, Hellblade 2 will also have black stripes… with the added bonus of dynamic resolution. So no native 4K.
If it’s done well, most people shouldn’t see anything in it, but the mere sight of such concessions irritates players. Now we have to hope that the 30 fps is stable under all circumstances and the variations in the display are not brutal. To combine 60fps and high resolution, the PC version is still available.
