Yesterday, February 8, 2025, Helldivers 2 turned one year. It is not much compared to other longest current games, but it has still accumulated more memorable moments than many of the latter. Controversies, epic battles, bad gusts, conflicts between the community … there are literally. A movie has even been announced!
Joel, Game Master of the game, returned to “face” after months in the shadow to recall his favorite moment this year. And I want to do the same in lifextra, but with a small summary of everything that has happened so far. The good, the bad and the rest things.
From the training field to a three bands without breaks
The galactic war of Helldivers 2 It was activated a year ago and has not stopped evolving since then. Unlike us, he does not need to sleep, work, study, socialize or enjoy other experiences. The advance of enemies requires constant attention from the entire community distributed throughout the world. They always advance, but there is always someone keeping the line.
I am proud to say that I was one of the Helldivers on day 1. I was hitting shots a few minutes away from starting the galactic war. The first thing we all met was training, a purely bureaucratic process that teaches you to move, cure, shoot and ask for stratagems. The essentials to survive enough time to realize that you know absolutely nothing about surviving the missions.
There was also a codex to study enemies, so we all learned with ancestral methods: attending to the example of other players and through essay and error. And so it is still for new players … although with a much more varied and powerful arsenal than then.
One of the most outstanding and unique aspects of Helldivers 2 It always keeps its battle passes available, known as war bonds. They are thematic today there are enough to have you busy for hundreds of hours. All have three pages of content, with the exception of the initial that has 10 pages.

You have to add a lot of content to these passes. From new ship modules, melee weapons (shovel, spear …) and stratagems (command, cuasar canyon, anti -tank location …) to vehicles such as two types of wicks and a humvee with a heavy machine gun. And to all this we must add special missions of events, new objectives and the acclaimed space station of democracy, a death star that works through samples and votes.
Epic battles, civil wars and other war dramas
The memorable events took a little to reach the galactic war. Every veteran will remember the first and most iconic in the history of Helldivers 2 so far: Play Oilknown as the battle of Malevelon creek. It was a bloody battle between Helldivers and Automata for the control of the planet. Its jungle atmosphere and the chaos of the battles against robots was the Vietnam of many players. And the worst thing was to discover that this was only a small advance and that the fleet would end up arriving at the Valdis sector later.
Almost at the same time there was another one of the toughest battles to date: the Sony PC PCystation Network controversy. The matter decreased the number of players in Steam and transcended beyond the borders of the game. A huge review-pump made the company enter … And the players surprisingly reversed it once their conditions were accepted.
The Front of the Termins interspersed prominence with the automatons at that time. The bugs did not stop mutating and adapting to Supertierra's chemicals, advancing inexorable until they ended up a Supertierra system. The decline of the players and the automaton campaign diminished the defense on this front. This led us to use chemical diffusers at the planetary level and finally to the destruction of meridia, which is currently a huge black hole in some way influenced by the enlightened ones.
But the problems could not stay in the PlayStation Network. The Nerfe constants to the weapons of the Helldivers and improvements to the enemies greatly angered the community. The game ceased to be fun for many players. This in turn led to a discomfort that caused the first civil war between Helldivers, which killed each other during the missions, and in the creation of the chaosdivers. Inspired by Warhammer 40k, they are a subfaction against Supertierra. Arrowhead ended up accepting them inside the canon.
We live other exciting campaigns such as the battle of Mort, which is the favorite moment of the game master of Helldivers 2. Also known as Joel but nothing prepared us for what would happen during the summer of 2024: Arrowhead began to make disastrous decisions about the balance of the game, looking for a realism that no one had asked. Our weapons were increasingly weak and the strongest enemies. It was no longer fun. The figures recorded a drop of 80-90% of the players. Numerous media and content creators assumed Helldivers 2.
They were a few months of bad decisions by Arrowhead and Crystation of the community. The only ray of hope was the promises of improvements, remember the famous 60 -day plan of the study, and one of the most emotional chapters of Helldivers 2: The players had to choose between unlocking a new ploy (anti -tank mines) or contributing to save some children … that ended up being real, since it resulted in a donation of several thousand dollars to the Save the Children Foundation. It was a respite of happiness at the worst moment of the game.
Arrowhead fulfilled his promise and rebounded the game. It was fun again. Several new enemies were also introduced, such as the 2015 Helldivel Plus Space Station of Democracya process that lasted weeks. While the result is not liked by all players and needed a readjustment, it was an incredible addition.
A stage of relative tranquility came. Arrowhead concentrated on fixing the destroy of summer and preparing the terrain for what would come in December. And created the wolf to increase the mystery: a huge cloud of gas that covers to this day a large part of the ending front. Missions have been sent to study it, but it was in the background due to the arrival of an ancient enemy.
It was during The Game Awards 2024, after winning a large number of awards in that gala and in the Golden Joystik Awards, when Arrowhead announced the return of the enlightened with the update omes of tyranny. They also introduced armed humvee, urban maps, a war bonus and more content. And everything has revolved around these aliens to this day, that the black hole of meridia is moving while the Helldivers looked helpless. Celebrating the Anniversary of Helldivers 2
Obviously Helldivers 2 I couldn't have an anniversary like any other. The PlayStation Network service stopped working during the early hours of January 8, 2025, causing all PlayStation players to not access for almost 24 hours. PC Helldivers had to keep the front alone in one of the most critical moments in the history of war.
In spite of everything, the mood of the community did not decline. Many decided to roll that the fall of the service was an illuminated attack against the systems of PlayStation players to stop our progress and have time to execute their plan. It is not the first time that players turn real events in part of the game canon. They already did with the Nerfe: they blamed Supertierra to impoverish the production of weapons.
In this context, I decided to do what any Helldiver would have done in my position: I downloaded my PC version and celebrated the anniversary of the most poetic way possible: starting from scratch, just like a year ago. And I admit that I have had an extremely well because I love the beginnings, when you must deal with huge waves of bugs or robots with very limited resources: the orbital precision attack, a machine gun, a sentry and what you can rapiñar by the map. Now more than ever I am sure that Helldivers 2 You need prestiges and/or the possibility of resetting progress manually.
The first year of Helldivers 2 It has been incredible, a roller coaster of emotions and fun both on the battlefield and covering it in Vidaxtra. There is always the possibility that Arrowhead returns to the traces, especially now that its head has taken a sabbatical year, but we trust that they have learned the lesson. So we can only continue fighting in a galactic war that never rests.
