I’ve been ignoring the whole PSN thing lately, Hellraiser 2 It may be everyone’s favorite live service game now – but it didn’t start out that way.
Yeah, well, sure, some players are unhappy with the need to connect a PSN account to their PC version of Helldivers 2, but most people still love it. No one expected it to be such a success, but you’d probably be hard-pressed to find a more beloved live-service game this year, even with all of its ups and downs. But when the game begins development, just like the first game, it’s not going to be a real-time game.

Russ Nickel, the game’s former lead writer, explained in an interview with Inverse that Helldivers 2 is an ever-evolving experience that feels “like what Live Attendant was born to do.” For a while, Arrowhead [Game Studios] It’s unknown if the sequel will be a live service title. But as we talked further, it became clear that this was going to make for a cool live service experience where the story could constantly change, so it really felt like it was alive. ”
Interestingly, it was indeed quite some time into the development process before it was decided that the game would be a live service. When asked when, Nickel shared: “It was about halfway through development. For a long time, they were just developing the playability of the game. So that was the first focus. When I joined, there was already a game It’s ready to play. “It was fun to play, and then the second half of development was adding the narrative and figuring out what the playable prototype would actually look like. ”
Clearly, this change has been a success for Arrowhead, as it’s likely to be a strong contender for some awards this year. Now we just have to figure out how to actually achieve freedom…
