Helldivers 2 returns once again with another major order to take control of a bunch of planets, this time against the Terminds. If you were hoping Arrowhead would bring a more interesting twist to galactic warfare, though, don’t worry, because it sounds like Game Master Joel might be getting some new tools soon.
Aside from that nice kid-saving and tree-climbing session, the super-Earths have been pretty quiet on the warpath since the Meridia black hole showed up. Fortunately, based on analysis, it looks like people will soon get the action they crave.

First up, the latest major order requires players to take control of five planets – Erson Sands, Acamar IV, Pandion XXIV, Phact Bay, and Bore Rock – before the order expires. Why? Because as Arrowhead community manager Baskinator explains, while the automatons have been pacified for now, the bugs’ “desire to infest and devour new worlds is as unending as their tyranny.”
“The Terminids have now spread into the Falstaff and Kinsey regions,” they outlined, “areas that have long been allocated by the Expansion Ministry as long-term colonies – this greedy annexation will not be tolerated. We must focus on preventing the Terminids from expanding.”
As you can imagine, given how similar this mission is to previous MO missions, some hardcore players are starting to crave something cool and new. “It feels like we’re definitely on the brink of the next storyline, but they’re not ready to release it yet,” one person wrote in a Reddit post, with some speculating that Arrowhead may be waiting for the summer, when many people are on vacation, to pass before launching a new campaign.
The good news is that based on some comments from Arrowhead Production Director Alex Bolle in the first new community update for Helldivers 2, it sounds like the studio does have a lot planned for Galaxies. Speaking about what he’s most excited about for the game in the near future, the developer said: “I’m really excited to see the future improvements we want to make to Galaxies and all the tools we have planned for game moderators. One of our pillars going forward is to focus on playing with (or against) the community, and what I’ve seen so far tells me that we’re going to have a lot of fun playing.”
To me, the Game Master Tools is the most noteworthy, though what it refers to is obviously left to the imagination. The elephant in the room could be a new faction, like the long-rumored Illuminate, but Bolle could also be hinting at something less glamorous. We’ll just have to wait and see.
