At today’s Indie World event, Nintendo announced that a slew of games will be coming to the Switch console.
From the 20 indie games on display, there’s something for everyone to look forward to, from noir punk to action-adventure, from Souls-like games to platformers.
Here’s a list of games featured in today’s Nintendo demo:
Another crab treasure: Developed by Aggro Crab, this crustacean-themed soul-like game transports you into an underwater world on the verge of collapse. Playing as Kril the Hermit Crab, you will use the litter around the ocean floor as a shell to resist attacks from enemies bigger than yourself. You’ll also go on a treasure hunt to discover the “dark secrets” behind the polluted ocean. There are over 50 potential shells to discover, and many dangerous enemies to overcome. Another Crab’s Treasure will be released next year. It’s also coming to Steam and “your favorite unproven console.”
black punk adventure game Gun Brera Doinksoft and Devolver Digital also announced. Here, you play as a woodcutter who takes Gunbrella for revenge. Over the course of the game, your investigation becomes entangled with ghouls and gangsters, cops and cultists, and other bizarre characters in a world that is rapidly losing its natural resources. You’ll need to collect shards and spare parts to upgrade your weapons to “glide, swing, dash, dive” and take out enemies in side-scrolling combat. Gunbrella will launch on Nintendo Switch and PC next year.
Published later today is mini highway From the Dinosaur Polo Club. In the game, you can control the traffic problems in the city. You will need to draw and build roads to create a metropolis, then redesign your city to keep traffic flowing. You will need to carefully manage upgrades, such as highways and those tricky roundabouts, to keep up with changing demands. The game has nearly 4 million players on Apple Arcade, Mac, and PC, and new free content is dropping today with the Night Light update.
sketch, a farming game where you can grow and train cute little animals called ooblets, is coming to Nintendo Switch this summer. As you nurture a new life in the Badgetown community, you’ll customize your character, make friends with locals, decorate your house, craft items, run your own shop, and dance battles. Sounds like a good time to rant. You can also dress up your ooblet buddies, play mini-games and explore various locations, each with their own unique characters, quests, items and unique ooblets. The game is currently available through Early Access on the Epic Games Store and Game Preview on Xbox.
Created by a one-person development team and prototyped as part of a school competition, electronic head From Nama Takahashi is a 2D puzzle platformer in which you play as a small robot named Elec in a facility. In the game, you are on a mission to bring light back to the world. You will activate walls, floors, platforms and switches by touching them and passing electricity through them. You can also detach and throw Elec’s head to trigger things remotely. The only caveat is that if he doesn’t get his head back within 10 seconds, he shuts down. Basically, you will use your mind, literally and figuratively, to find a way out of the trap. The game is coming to Switch this summer and is currently available through Steam to “very positive” reviews. You can also get it from GOG and Itch.io.
fall From Drastic Games and Noodlecake is a fast-paced, rhythm-based dungeon crawler that combines looter-shooting action with musical gameplay. You play as a musical genius known as the Guardian of Harmony, who is transported by the composer to the world of symphony to battle the forces of dissonance. Here, you’ll time your movements to the music to increase your strength. With over 500 devices for skill customization and thousands of devices for loot combinations, you can play solo or play dynamically generated levels with up to four players in local and online multiplayer. The game contains over 140 songs and focuses on replayability. Soundfall launches today on the Epic Games Store, Steam and Switch.
Coming to Steam and Switch this winter is Deadpan Games and Chucklefish’s wild frost. This tactical Roguelike deck builder lets you tackle the harsh elements by building and customizing your deck before setting off to end the Eternal Frost. You can also customize and upgrade companion cards and expand your hub town during each run, unlocking more cards, and encountering new challenges and events in this game, guaranteeing tons of replayability.
Bartola: Lost Haven From Stormind Games and Team 17 invites you to a non-linear, story-driven interstellar action RPG that combines the hack and slash and twin-stick shooter genres. In the game, you will play as Avril, a 16-year-old girl who is endowed with extraordinary powers. After a mysterious and devastating event, you can save your planet by harnessing your physical and mental powers to tackle challenges and obstacles along the way. Batora: Lost Haven will release on PlayStation, Steam, Switch and Xbox this fall.
Also announced today, we are OFK Coming to Switch this summer. Also released on PC, PS4, and PS5, the game follows the lives of four friends in their 20s as they try to break into the music business, fall in love, and figure out how to pay their rent and succeed in Los Angeles. It will feature five interactive animated episodes, five interactive music videos featuring tracks performed by OFK, fully voiced interactive dialogue, “emotional texting, thirst texting, meme texting, emoji spam” and the original location in Los Angeles.
silt Games from Spiral Circus and Fireshine Games are coming to Switch in June. Also launching on Steam, the game puts you in an underwater abyss where you’re a diver looking to unravel long-forgotten mysteries. Explore the depths and you’ll have creatures around you to solve environmental puzzles and go deep into the dark. As you explore, you’ll encounter strange machinery, ancient ruins, and dangerous sea dwellers.
Available on the Epic Games Store, Steam and Xbox, Fully accurate combat simulator The game from Landfall Games is coming to Switch this summer. Become the leader of red and blue swingers from ancient lands, spooky places and fantasy worlds in this rather fun simulation strategy game. Watch your infantry compete in conflicts of various eras and craft new swingers in the unit creator, in addition to the 100+ you already have at your disposal. You can also send your swingers to fight your friends in local and online multiplayer.
wayward chain from ghost pattern transports you into a curious flying hospital where you will explore the story world in a narrative adventure in rural Australia in the 1970s. You play as a teenage reporter named Casey Beaumaris who stalks the residents of the hospital while uncovering the mysteries of the airship. The stories of more than a dozen characters will unfold around you in real time, and you can choose which ones you want to participate in. Every playback allows you to discover something you haven’t seen before. The game is coming to PC, PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox on July 21.
Released later this year on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/s, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC, lamb worship Features from Massive Monster and Devolver Digital is a randomly generated world where you play as a possessed lamb. In the action-adventure game, you’ll pay off the debt of the strangers who saved you from destruction by creating a community of loyal Woodland worshippers. Gather resources to build buildings, then go deep into deadly dungeons filled with razor spiders and poisonous millipedes to challenge the dungeon’s overlord, Shamura.
exist OPUS: Echoes of the Star Song – Bloom Edition In SIGONO, you’ll find asteroids, interact with a group of characters and unravel the mysteries of the Starsong in this narrative puzzle game. Playing as Eda, the girl who can hear the mysterious sound waves of the star song, you will meet a young man who is looking for the source of the sound. Together you will venture to the heart of space to unravel an ancient myth. The game launches today on Switch and is already available on PC via GOG and Steam.
Broken Rules cute game about freedom and survival, Gibbons: Beyond the Trees, launching today on Apple Arcade and Switch. Already available via Steam, you’ll master a dynamic motion system to swing, slide, and somersault through hand-drawn jungles. The game puts you in the role of a lost gibbon on a perilous journey to unknown lands. You can run to freedom in Liberation mode or play by capturing the stories of creatures fighting around the world. The game tackles real-world environmental issues, including deforestation, poaching, and climate change. These problems pose a serious threat to the life of gibbons, one of the most vulnerable and endangered species in existence.
The Indie World demo also includes a montage of upcoming games like Card Shark, which has a demo later today. The montage also showcases this fall’s Guide to Babel, OneShot: World Machine Edition and Cursed to Golf, both coming this summer, as well as Idol Manager slated for an August 25 release.
