In 2023 we are going to have a scary time. Especially if you are passionate about horror and science fiction. Throughout the year there will be a lot of each on PC and consoles, but the first big hit on the table will come from an old acquaintance: the new generation remake of Dead Space. In fact, Electronic Arts anticipates its departure by unleashing its brutal launch trailer, and far from alleviating the wait makes it harder to carry.
The classic updated by Motive shows its best cards on the screen in just under two minutes. Its look is brand new, but everything we loved about the original remains in place, including its visceral grit and that oh-so-characteristic USG Ishimura mining ship setting.
The final sentence, by the way, is not wasted either: Humanity ends here. At least we still have a few days to go before launch.
Dead Space remake: What’s new, man?
What the trailer does not detail, nor does it need to, are the improvements to the game. The visual improvements are obvious, since the game has been rebuilt from scratch, and Electronic Arts already tells us that the possibilities of state-of-the-art systems with 3D ambient sound and gameplay will also be updated for the occasion. To which must be added the promise of a retroactively expanded narrative experience according to what they say from Motive. Nothing bad.
The story, for example, touches all the points and picks up all the main events of the original, but we wanted to analyze the saga as a whole, knowing that the story continues far beyond the original game. We had Dead Space 2, Dead Space 3, the comics… A lot of story-expanding content that we’ve brought back into the game.
While comparisons to Callisto Protocol will be inevitable, the remake of Dead Space It has two advantages: The original classic is considered a masterpiece of horror and science fiction, which makes it a safe bet.
In addition, from EA Motive they opted to make a different and transparent development with periodic events and creating a group of creative advisors made up of fans of the saga. Something that has not been done in many games. At least of this caliber.
Electronic Arts warms up engines with a lot of room for launch
Despite the fact that Motive has released the launch trailer, there is still some margin until Dead Space is officially available: the game will go on sale on PC, Xbox Series X / S and PS5 as of January 27.
Unlike other games like FIFA or Need For Speed, Electronic Arts will not offer subscribers to its service early access to Dead Space. Nevertheless, EA Play Pro members, the premium service for PC, they will be able to play the full version of dead space launch and without a time limit, in addition to adding the Anodized suit as an extra.
In a 2023 in which the whole world will bet big, EA will launch two torpedoes to start the year with a bang on PC and next-generation systems: in January we will have the space terror of Dead Space and in mid-February Wild Hearts. Taking into account that they have in hand the new deliveries of Dragon Age, Mass Effect y Skate, the panorama that draws us points to ways.
