The main new feature of update 1.0, which will bring Legends of Runeterra on mobile and officially on PC, is the arrival of the Bilgewater region with the first extension called Mare Montante.
For those who are not familiar with the world of Runeterra, Bilgewater is a port city where pirates and mercenaries prosprate. "The deceitful occupants of the port of Bilgewater have only one watchword: grab all the loot. Bilgewater, the pirates are all good looting, scammers and scoundrels do not lose sight of their next big blow , and sea monsters devour whole ships without warning ", describes Riot Games
The Bilgewater region will launch with five champions (Nautilus, Miss Fortune, Gangplank, Fizz and Twisted Fate) and 60 cards. Obviously, there are new strategic developments, such as the six keywords indicated above. Several community sites have been designated by Riot Games to access the full list of cards, like Mobalytics.
Getting to serious things
Update 1.0 will bring the very first official competitive season for Legends of Runeterra after a beta season. It will be called the Looting Season, still in the theme of Bilgewater and its pirates, with rewards given to players who were classified during the beta.
Season 1 will start tomorrow evening, after 24 hours of maintenance of the accounting mode. The beta season ends tonight with the arrival of the update. Players who have been classified will suffer from a "soft reset", that is to say that their rank will approach the average in the new season, but it will not be completely removed (800 points less for Master accounts, for example).
Some gameplay changes will also be made before the majority of rebalances, which will be introduced on April 30. Thus, players with 6 cards on their board can replace cards if they wish instead of having to destroy them.
Expeditions mode will not escape change: eight new archtypes will be available and will appear twice as often as usual at the choice of champion for the launch of the expansion. Finally, the AI and the challenges will be improved to favor the new players arrive.
No more cosmetics!
The Mare Montante extension will bring its new appearance of table, but also two new guards (the Freshwater Tamarin and the Walker), many backs of cards for all regions, unlocked with levels (or spending 490 pieces) , and 10 new emotes (cost of 190 pieces).
New options for easy access to card backs and emotes will be added, as well as the ability to save specific equipment for each deck.
Official release of the game
The update will also mark the start of the official release of the game on PC and mobile. Regarding the performance required on mobile, the editor indicates that 2 GB of RAM is strongly recommended to enjoy an optimal gaming experience.
Players who log in before May 8 will receive a special reward within 48 hours, as well as a reward per log-in day for up to 7 successive days. In addition, more experience will be obtained at the first levels of the original regions and to adapt to the output of the new region, the maximum level of the others will be increased by 5 (from 20 to 25). The level crossing will exclusively offer cards from the Mare Montante extension, in addition to other advantages.
Update 1.0 will be released around 7:00 p.m. this evening. The game's release will be rolled out gradually until April 30 in all regions, with the arrival of other changes. It is possible to pre-register Legends of Runeterra on iOS and Android to be notified when it is officially released.
