IO Interactive has announced a rebrand for Hitman 3. The game will be available as Hitman: World of Assassination in the future – and that has far-reaching consequences.
Hitman 3, released in 2021, will be available as Hitman: World of Assassination in the future. The changeover is scheduled to take place this month on January 26, 2023.
The change is anything but cosmetic, as the rebranding will finally merge the current trilogy of the stealth action series. The Hitman released in 2016 as well as Hitman 2 from 2018 then merge into Hitman 3; there will then only be one joint live service game in the future.
Hitman and Hitman 2 will be withdrawn as a result of the move and will no longer be available on their own. Anyone who has previously purchased these titles will still have access to them, but new purchases are no longer possible.
By integrating the two older parts with their content into Hitman: World of Assassination, all previous owners of Hitman 3 will then have the same basic content. Previous confusion about who has to buy which edition in order to access certain content will then be a thing of the past, as will legacy packs, imported locations from previous games and more.
The bottom line is that Hitman: World of Assassination buyers are essentially getting three full games; until tomorrow, for example, they will also be available cheaper in the Steam Winter Sale.
