IO Interactive announces another delay in the release of Freelance mode hitman 3.
Originally slated to launch in the spring before the second half of this year, IO says that while the mode is “almost ready,” there are a few things that need to be determined before Freelancer launches.
To that end, the studio plans to hold a Freelancer closed technical test for the Rogue-like mode. In early November, IO will selectively invite Hitman 3 players on Steam to test the mode.
While participating in the beta, you’ll be able to customize your safehouse, eliminate syndicate leaders, unlock mastery, and try out core elements of the mode.
The closed technical test will also be a stress test on the servers and will provide developers with an early idea of player behavior. It will also allow them to do some economic and XP balancing at scale in real life.
More information will be announced on October 27th, when the team will share details about the test, including how you can get involved.
Announced back in January, Freelancer introduced strategic planning and customizable safe houses.
As you progress in Freelancer, more safehouse areas can be unlocked and new customization options become available. This is also where you do your pre-mission planning by visiting the Mission Center. You can choose which campaign to play, and after completing a campaign, you can return to the safehouse to restock, resupply, and plan your next move.
Freelancer is now expected to launch on January 26, 2023.
