Sony is said to be working on a remake or remaster of Horizon: Zero Dawn, which will be released for PS5 and PC. A multiplayer spin-off is also planned, in which we go hunting for mechanical dinosaurs together with friends. At least that’s what several insiders and news outlets in the gaming industry want to know.
Most recently, Sony gave The Last of Us Part 1, a general overhaul of the Playstation milestone that the new edition of Horizon: Zero Dawn should be based on. You can read what critics and fans think of it in the following article, while the PC version is still a long way off:
The Last of Us
Top ratings for remake, PC release is a long time coming
Remake oder Remaster? What the alleged new edition of Horizon: Zero Dawn means exactly cannot be said at the moment. Currently there are only a few details about what the return of the 2017 action-adventure for PS5 and PC should offer.
What exactly is in it? According to the leaked information, the new edition of Horizon: Zero Dawn should offer new graphics modes, accessibility features and bring quality of life improvements to the gameplay – not unlike The Last of Us: Part 1. Especially the character models and the presentation of light and animation should benefit from the remake or remaster.
Already in 2020, Horizon: Zero Dawn was given a number of technical improvements with the release of the PC version – such as a larger view, higher frame rate, revised vegetation and ultrawide resolution. However, numerous players had to struggle with bugs and glitches for the release. You can read what we think of Horizon: Zero Dawn and the PC version in our detailed review:

An open-world masterpiece on PC too
What is known about the multiplayer spin-off? Not even that much. All we know for now is that a spin-off of Horizon: Zero Dawn and Horizon: Forbidden West
The basic idea for this is of course reminiscent of the Monster Hunter series, in which several players also go hunting to bring down huge monstrosities together. It is currently unknown when Guerrilla plans to unveil or publish the multiplayer project for Horizon.
By the way, you can watch our test video for Forbidden West as follows:

Where is the rumor coming from? Several industry insiders and portals reported on the news, and other representatives subsequently confirmed that they would like to know about these plans. For example, among other things MP1ST
The alleged plans would definitely not be too surprising, since Sony has already implemented various remakes, remasters and new releases – such as The Last of Us: Part 1, Ghost of Tsushima or Marvel’s Spider-Man. It would definitely make sense for Sony to revive the guerrilla brand in the face of an upcoming Netflix series based on Horizon. Especially considering how much Cyberpunk 2077, for example, benefited from the release of the Netflix anime Edgerunner.
You can read why the recent comeback of Cyberpunk 2077 is a good example that will probably not catch on in Peter’s detailed analysis on the subject:
Cyberpunk 2077
This comeback would be impossible for (almost) all other games
What do you think of the alleged plans for a remake or remaster of Horizon: Zero Dawn, which is only five years old? Would you rather wish for a different reboot from Sony, or are you excited to relive or experience Aloy’s adventure in the post-apocalypse full of mechanical dinos for the first time?
