Receiving a package with a new graphics card is usually a cause for joy. But not if it turns out that there is a weaker model instead of the one you ordered.
That’s how it is Reddit user
What happened?
Reddit user hibiscuschild has ordered an AMD Radeon RX 7600 from the XFX Speedster QICK 308 brand from Amazon. The card currently costs around 310 dollars from the US giant. Instead, however, he was sent an XFX Speedster SWFT 210 Radeon RX 6600 Core Gaming, which, according to the price comparison portal Geizhals, is available from 205 dollars.
The GameStar test reveals how well the RX 7600 performs:
The whole thing is annoying at first, but ultimately he has to repackage the card and send it back. However, he didn’t have to wait long for the replacement model. This has already been sent to him, although the RX 6600 is still in his possession, as can be seen from the following image:

And not only that: The replacement model is not the RX 7600 that was originally ordered, but rather an XFX Speedster QICK 319 Radeon RX 7800 XT, which is available from 539 dollars – a decent upgrade.
What are the technical differences?
The RX 7800 XT from XFX clocks at up to 2,430 MHz and is therefore noticeably slower than the RX 7600, which nominally clocks in at 2,655 MHz. The 7800 XT offers 16 instead of 8 GB of graphics memory, which is also slightly faster (19.5 versus 18 Gbps). The number of computing cores is also almost twice as high – there are 3,840 shader units compared to 2,048. The specs in comparison:
RX 7800 XT QICK 319 | RX 7600 QICK 308 | RX 6600 SWFT 210 | |
---|---|---|---|
computing cores | 3.840 | 2.048 | 1.792 |
clock speed | 2.124/2.430 MHz | 2.250/2.655 MHz | 2.044/2.491 MHz |
Storage | 16 GB GDDR6 (19,5 Gbps) | 8 GB GDDR6 (18 Gbps) | 8 GB GDDR6 (14 Gbps) |
TDP | 263 Watt | 165 Watt | 132 Watt |
Street price | 539 Euro | 307 Euro | 205 Euro |
How much faster is the RX 7800 XT than the RX 7600? In the GameStar test, the RX 7800 XT delivers between 70 and 99 percent more frames per second, depending on the resolution selected. In comparison, it performs best under Full HD resolution, where it is practically twice as fast as the RX 7600.
What happens to the RX 6600?
Of course, the Reddit user has to send them back. The fact that Amazon has already delivered the replacement model without expecting the other card to be returned is not atypical for the company’s service.
A moral question remains
Should hibiscuschild also return the RX 7800 XT and report that he accidentally received a more powerful model?
Opinions may differ on this: On the one hand, it is simply incredible luck that we grant the Reddit user.
On the other hand, the merchant who sold the card will make a loss. And honesty still lasts the longest, as the saying goes.
What does this look like from a purely legal perspective?
As Jens Thurn, lawyer for IT law, data protection and copyright, believes, the buyer is not obliged to inform the seller about the (more powerful) graphics card that was incorrectly sent.
The seller must therefore notice his mistake and specifically demand the return of the graphics card, while at the same time covering all costs incurred, for example for shipping. Read more about this in the following article:
Also important: We understand that Reddit stories are often difficult to verify for veracity. However, hibiscuschild’s contribution seems credible, after all, such errors can occur during shipping.
We have another exciting Reddit story for you here:
how do you see it? Was the Reddit user just lucky that he should accept it graciously? Or would it actually be advisable to also complain about the RX 7800 XT? How would you act in a comparable situation? Are you on the side of luck and would you keep her? Or would you send them back? Feel free to write it to us in the comments!
