Atomic Heart fascinates – and gets a lot of criticism
One of the highest ratings for Atomic Heart draws XboxEra. In the test, Jesse Norris writes:
Atomic Heart is an excellent game and incredible debut from Mundfish. Clever storytelling, massive setpieces, and fun combat make this game easy to recommend.
Stefan Wilhelm of the Europe magazine PCGames hits a similar notch in his test:
With enormously fun, varied gameplay, great art style, interesting story and great sound, Atomic Heart manages to outperform its many small blunders.
Also WeGotThisCovered is convinced of Atomic Heart, even if the shooter is by no means perfect in the eyes of David Morgan:
Atomic Heart surprisingly turned out exactly what I expected. The game’s greatest strengths are a feast for the eyes – the script and exploration are compelling in an otherwise very stretched gaming experience.
But it is already becoming more critical Eurogamer in the review by Alexander Bohn-Elias:
Bioshock clone with a confusing, often unsatisfying story and many unfinished elements. Beautiful visuals and good fights are captivating enough for one playthrough.
TheGamer even punishes Atomic Heart quite radically. Issy van der Velde writes in her review:
Atomic Heart is the result of a 15-year process of thoughtful world-building and storytelling, but it never lives up to it. Individual aspects work quite well and would work better without artificial fluff. […] I’ve never encountered a game world that is so fascinating and at the same time so repulsive. Any feature designed to stretch gameplay is the complete opposite of fun, while Faculty 3826 never fails to captivate me.
Josh West from GameRadar it is quite similar, the tester writes in his conclusion about Atomic Heart:
Atomic Heart has many good ideas, but fails at the very basics. With an incomprehensible storyline, weightless combat, and frustrating first-person platform sections, Atomic Heart is overshadowed by the video games it so obviously draws its inspiration from.
Where are the user reviews? At this time, players on Metacritic are not yet allowed to comment on Atomic Heart. The critics’ portal will not open its doors until February 22, so that users can also share their conclusions about Atomic Heart.
By the way, if you are interested in the PC version of Atomic Heart, then you should definitely take a look at the following video. Because at the current time, the promised ray tracing is still a long time coming:
