Even if the great Twitch hype surrounding Rust has recently subsided, the developers at Facepunch Studios are still working hard on new content for the survival hit. After there was already a major update in July that brought support for Nvidia’s DLSS technology, among other things, the huge August update now provides a lot of new content: In keeping with the season, there is a great cooling off, because the next patch will blow you away Land into the sea.

The most important information about the update can be found in this article, but you can get a first look at the new content in the video by Rust expert Shadowfrax:

Sharks, subs and more in the Rust update

Rust is actually that dangerous enough as it is. Not only do there seem to be enemy players behind every hill, who love to put off even unarmed beginners, but there are also AI-controlled opponents. With the ocean update, there are now numerous other ways in which you can bless the temporal.

Hedge: So that it is also dangerous in the water in the future, sharks must of course not be missing – after all, there are also aggressive wild animals such as wolves and wild boars on the mainland. So that you are not completely defenseless against them, you can make a harpoon.

Underwater laboratories: So that there is even an incentive for a trip into the cool water, new monuments come into play. The underwater laboratories are generated completely procedurally and therefore look different on each server. In the underwater stations you will most likely find AI enemies and lots of loot in boxes and barrels.

Uboote: So that you can safely get to the underwater laboratories, there will also be submarines. These come in two versions, for one and for two passengers. They can be bought in fishing villages and cost 200 or 300 scrap, depending on the size you choose. The vehicles are equipped with torpedoes that can be used against underwater targets and also against boats on the surface of the water.

fishing: Last but not least, you can put your rod on the next dock and fish comfortably. There are said to be different types of bait that can be used to catch fish. You can then eat them or sell them for scrap in fishing villages. Some of the sea creatures even give you some loot that they probably swallowed while swimming around.

When does the update appear?

The August update will be released on Thursday 5th August 2021. At the same time, the official game servers are all wiped, so that you now have the best opportunity for a fresh start.
