news culture “I didn’t want to wear tight leggings when I was 50” This hero won’t be back on Netflix
In a few weeks, we’ll be entitled to the biggest superhero reunion ever seen on Netflix. One heroine will be missing though… and here’s why!
A new movie for the Power Rangers!
If you’re a Power Rangers fan, you certainly haven’t missed the big news: On April 19th, the 30th anniversary of the franchise, the original Power Rangers will reunite one last time to please the fans of the first hour. This brand new movie entitled Power Rangers: Once & Always already has a trailer (available at the top of the article) and a synopsis.
Thirty years after the wise and powerful Zordon founded the Power Rangers, the gang sees an old threat resurface. In the midst of a crisis affecting the entire earth, the world needs its heroes.
But when the early fans find their favorite actors and actresses, Rocky DeSantos (Power Ranger Rouge), Zack Taylor (Power Ranger Noir), Billy Cranston (Power Ranger Bleu) and Kat Hillard (Power Ranger Rose), Note that some will be overlooked. We think, of course, of Thuy Trang (Yellow Power Ranger) and Jason David Frank (Green Power Ranger), who sadly have since passed away and who will have the right to a tribute in the film, but also of Amy Jo Johnson, who decided to not to reply to this new meeting.
Amy Jo Johnson doesn’t want her costume anymore
Amy Jo Johnson is not just anyone! Aside from filming in several cult series, starting with Felicity and Flashpoint, she was most notably the very first Power Ranger Rose (before she was replaced by Kat Hillard, who actually has a presence in the film). So we could see her in the costume of Kimberly Hart between 1993 and 1995 in the Power Rangers series, but also in the feature film Power Rangers, the movie released in 1995. But DSince then, the heroine who rocked our childhood has given up the costume.
For many fans, the reason for his absence is a question of money, but the truth is ultimately very different: Amy Jo Johnson just doesn’t see herself playing the heroine in pantyhose anymore.
Stop saying I didn’t do the Power Rangers reunion for money, that’s not true. Maybe I just didn’t want to wear tight tights in my 50’s or couldn’t travel to New Zealand for a month. Or maybe that’s none of your business. Amy Jo Johnson, actress
Still, the actress says she’ll be checking out this brand new Power Rangers adventure. As a reminder, this unreleased story, titled Power Rangers: Once & Always, will be available on Netflix starting April 19.
