I have fallen again. I promised myself I was over it. I thought I was completely off the hook by replaying The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and diving right into Destiny 2 and Diablo IV. I felt safe because it doesn’t have a next-gen version… but it was a false security. I admit that I have fallen again in Red Dead Redemption II.
I continue to keep up to date Destiny 2 y Diablo IVand I play a couple of side quests, contracts and quests in The Witcher 3 before turning off the PS5; but Red Dead Online has been added to the equation (again) after learning that Rockstar Games could be preparing a remaster of Red Dead Redemption.
I accepted that it was unavoidable and reinstalled it on my PS5. I didn’t expect it to last very long, but it’s still there after a week. And while I don’t have much left to complete in multiplayer, it looks like there are still things to experience.
Red Dead Online’s Siren’s Song
I don’t remember the last time I played Red Dead Onlinebut I do know that I was convinced that it was a goodbye because I left my character in my favorite place on the entire map: the valle de Little Creek River. It is an elongated plain bathed by the meandering of a small river, the purple of lavenders and the green of fresh grass.
Deer, rabbits and other critters scamper between purple and green, while the grunts and bellows of osseous y Uapitíes respectively resound between the trees that surround the limits of the small plain. A few clouds dot an almost perfect blue sky, whose uniformity is interrupted by the passage of birds and various birds of prey.
For some unknown reason, I have an active collector’s map. Three locations are marked on the map. If I was looking for a sign that I have to play Red Dead Online, without a doubt it is this. I call my horse. I clean his mane and part of his back for a minute, and give him a couple of apples before I go. He has been waiting too long for my return.
I decide to head north, towards the area northwest of Lake Isabella. The night and the cold descend on me. The first flakes begin to fall, a sign that I should put on my outfit to combat the elements. A long coat, boots and mythical Arthur Morgan hat allow me to continue without problems.
Suddenly I hear the howling of a wolf, then another, and another… I find a pack of five wolves chasing a deer in a clearing. The moonlight shows me such a spectacle of nature. Though I’m in awe, I reach for my rifle Winchester 1892.
I try to take a detour so as not to disturb the hunt, but the pack soon notices my presence. The deer will be able to live another night. The alpha male and female they pounce on me. I react quickly: two shots, one for each head. The three remaining wolves charge forward, but I raise my gun and fire into the air. They flee in terror. Cartridges fly out of the Winchester 1892 and the lever mechanism sounds like cracked metal. The gun is dirty. I clean the rifle with a little oil. I calm the horse with caresses and reward him with an apple.
old travel companions
A friend joins in just before I head into the snowy mountains. A Indian like the Apaches who in any other context would have been an enemy of my character, an old-school Clint Eastwood-style cowboy. He pulls up beside me as we jog through the mountains. Meanwhile, we chat by audio.
The snowy area in Red Dead Online, located northwest of Ambarino, is highly underrated by many players. The tranquillity
appears a Den, a world event where you have to kill all enemies, in the ghost town we just passed. We decided to continue climbing and position ourselves on some cliffs to have a full view of the town. I leave my horse in a safe place. I take out my 1892 Winchester to carry on my back (just in case) and the poderoso Krag-Jørgensena bolt-action rifle with a telescopic sight.
We started the shooting. Enemies take a long time to realize where the shots are coming from, and when they do they can only look on helplessly: their weapons don’t have that much range. Go falling one by onedyeing the snow red and offering their dirty bodies both to the cold and to the crows and wolves that will feed on them when it’s all over.
My fellow Indian decides that the leader requires a more personal treatment and close. I stay on the ridge to cover him from a distance. I see him running like a busy little ant, looking for the wretch in the houses. Several reinforcements fall after some complaints from the Indian. I’m not clear what he does with the leader. I leave him looting the corpses and continue on my way. “catch me when you can“.
We found another couple of crooks with bounties along the way. forces us to retrace steps
Our target is an antique: an antique comb next to a trading card. After that, we set course for the next objective, located to the on Blackwater. There are no unforeseen events along the way. Some little animal victim of the Indian’s bow and the lady’s rifle.
The best thing about this second trip was to see again the great Bard’s Crossing Bridge, which crosses the Dakota River and links Flatneck and Riggs stations by rail. At the risk of being pointed out, I will say that the construction is beautiful and that it does not diminish the horizon in the least.
The city of blackwater catches us We got the collectible, but we ended up doing different chores: buying clothes, selling skins, having a drink at the bar… Time is upon us in real life and one by one they leave the group to go to rest. I decide it’s time to shower, but not before going to the camp to redo my outfits and say hello to my faithful dog Loki.
I’m definitely stuck in again Red Dead Redemption II, although the vice is not as intense as in previous times. Will it prevail over The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt or will they share the downtime after Destiny 2 or Diablo IV? The only thing I know is that there are too many open fronts and that I need Starfield to come into my life to close them all… even temporarily.
