Almost three months ago, the prices for used graphics cards on Ebay were still at previously unattainable heights. Since then, costs have fallen so much that they are now almost back to the level they were at the beginning of the GPU crisis at the end of 2020.
This is shown by the prices for successfully sold graphics cards of popular models such as the Geforce GTX 1060 and the Radeon RX 580. The AMD graphics cards from our overview below are a good deal further away from the costs in November 2020, probably also because of their better suitability for mining cryptocurrencies like Ethereum.
After both Bitcoin and Ethereum were still struggling with significantly falling prices at the end of 2021 and beginning of 2022, the most recent development shows a clear stabilization with an upward trend. Recently, however, there have been more and more positive signals in terms of GPU prices, as is now the case with Ebay.

A look at the average sales prices of popular models from older generations shows significantly lower costs for all graphics cards compared to the beginning of the year. Around 550 dollars is still a lot of money for an RX 5700 XT, also with a view to the price of around 380 dollars in November 2020. In January 2022, however, it changed hands for an exorbitant 900 dollars.
On average, the graphics cards seen here were over 55 percent more expensive at the beginning of 2022. At the same time, the recent price drop makes used GPUs a much more sensible option than was the case a few weeks ago.
For example, the Geforce GTX 1070 from Nvidia roughly achieves the performance of the Geforce GTX 1660 Ti, which is also newly available in stores. The latter is only available there from around 360 dollars upwards, while the GTX 1070 is now available on Ebay for around 100 dollars less is. The GTX 1070 also has 2.0 GB more VRAM than the 1660 Ti.
However, the Nvidia models of the GTX 1660 series do not all shine with the best price/performance ratio, as this article on newly available graphics cards shows:

What is the risk when buying used?
If you buy a used graphics card, you can be unlucky and get a poorly aged (and/or treated) model. In principle, GPUs can continue to do their job years after their purchase and despite heavy use for a long time.
It can therefore be a sensible option to switch to the used market, especially if you don’t have much money for a graphics card. In the following article you can find out how you can generally tell that it is time to buy a new GPU:
