The Ascending Studio Showcased some gameplay of its upcoming Fantastic FPS Immortal Avim.
Immortals of Aveum, the latest entry under the EA Originals label, was officially announced last week alongside a cinematic trailer of course, giving us a glimpse at gameplay without actually showing us it. Thankfully, developer Ascendant Studios let us play the full six minutes of gameplay. Currently, it looks like a cross between Doom and other shooters like Destiny, with some of the hand-waving magic that Doctor Strange uses in the Marvel movies, along with fictional runes and particle effects.
The trailer shows off three different spells you can use, Force in blue, Life in green, and Chaos in red, which you can mix and match with sigils, rings, and totems. R 20;Unlock and upgrade a wide variety of spells and talents through three colors of magic,” reads the trailer’s description. “Finish, level up, and craft hundreds of pieces of magical equipment. Then synergize your playstyle across all three magical powers to become Aveum’s most powerful Triarch Magnus.”
Force magic seems to include things like shields and gravity spells, Chaos looks pretty fiery and explosive, but life magic doesn’t seem to have a clue what it does; presumably it does some healing, though it looks It also has a certain attack ability. Everything looks fast-paced, but changing your abilities on the fly seems pretty fluid, so it seems like the gameplay is at least built around that.
Immortals of Aveum is set to release on July 20 this year and will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
