Probably in early 2023, the PSVR 2 will be revealed in a big video that will make you want to. Sony is reviewing any new features that will improve immersion.
Communication around PSVR 2 is picking up speed this fall. Sony just released a best-of video on what gamers can expect with the new PS5 VR headset.
State-of-the-art PSVR 2
Sony will give everything for its PSVR 2 and mark a real break with the first model. At a reasonable price, we hope, as the VR market will remain niche. In order for the players to be informed about the progress, the Japanese company has placed an advertisement «Feel a New Real».
For almost two minutes, the video alternates between introducing new features and clips from the games “Horizon Call of the Mountain”, “Resident Evil Village”, “Firewall Ultra” and “The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution”. . And the PlayStation VR 2 has more than one argument in its favor with screens 4K HDR OLED with 2000 x 2040 resolution per eye with a frame rate of up to 120Hz, a 110 field of view°, the storm Audio 3D. But those aren’t the most compelling elements.
What shows a big gap in this new model is the high-flying eye tracking, which is used in two ways. First of all, it allows to get a foveally rendered to save resources to use elsewhere. Everything outside of the player’s field of view is scaled down to maximize detail of the environment and others in front of them and on the near sides. Customization is a snap, and unless you’re really looking, the process seems transparent. LEye tracking is also implemented to perform actions like selecting gear from a weapon wheel.
Finally, when it comes to the headset itself, there will be built-in haptic feedback. Ultra-precise vibrations that could simulate the effect of a ball grazing the player’s head.
Unreal worlds in your hands
The Sense controllers are also explained. Using finger recognition, it is possible, for example, to place your index finger on the trigger guard of a pistol or other weapon. Like the PS5’s DualSense, each Sense features haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. When you draw a bow in Horizon Call of the Mountain, there will obviously be resistance.
Play it safe with PSVR 2
In particular, unlike its predecessor, the PSVR2 will have a transparent vision to briefly return to the real world without having to remove the helmet and reposition it on the head. You can also define your play area to exclude obstacles that would get in the way. The Cinematic mode already present on the PSVR 1 for watching movies or playing non-VR games on an impressive projection screen is back. And if you want to share your performances, they’ll be recorded by simply connecting a PS5 HD camera.
