Fantasy fans really can’t complain right now. Only in the last few days House of the Dragon started on the streaming provider Sky and inspired fans and critics in episode 1 and soon Rings of Power will be published on Amazon. Selected US journalists were now allowed to see the first two episodes of the Lord of the Rings series and were thrilled.

The first reactions
Not only journalists were allowed to watch the episodes, author Neil Gaiman was also able to catch a glimpse of the series. He is known, among other things, for the comic series Sandman, the series adaptation of which is currently running on Netflix.
Gaiman writes on Twitter that the first two episodes are really, really fun.
It would be exactly what he hoped for as a schoolboy from the Silmarillion but didn’t get.

Really negative opinions are not to be foundonly a few skeptical voices are unsure whether the plot and the many characters can entertain in the long run. Brandon Katz writes for example, it would be a tedious task to introduce so much needed worldbuilding. Germain Lussier claimsEpisode 1 and 2 start a little slow, but he definitely wants to keep watching.

Even if most of the voices sound very positive, you should not put too much weight in the statements. After all, the journalists were only allowed to see the first two of the eight episodes. There are also no final reviews, but only first impressions of selected people. Nevertheless, these of course give hope that the series can also convince in the end.
