After a long wait and many postponements, the time has finally come: Intel’s discrete Arc graphics cards will be released soon – and not only in China.
At the InnovatiON event, the semiconductor giant presented the largest of its first three mid-range cards, which are intended to roll up the old one-on-one battle between AMD and Nvidia: the Arc A770.
According to Intel manager Ryan Shrout, more information on the two unmentioned graphics cards A750 and A580 as well as on the flagship will be provided later in the week.

Intel Arc: release date and price
It should only be a little over two weeks before the new Intel graphics card is launched. Intel has revealed October 12th as the launch date for the A770.
The graphics card should initially cost 329 US dollars. This means that the card costs as much as the RTX 3060 and the RX 6600 when it was released last year.
The euro prices that customers have to pay in this country can of course be a good deal higher.
Intel Arc: Specifications
Intel itself provides little information about the specifications of the new graphics card. However, the new Intel cards should use the in-house Xe cores. According to rumors, the top model Arc A770 uses 32 of the cores and thus offers a total of 512 execution units.
model | Nuclear | clock rate | Storage | TGP/Max TGP |
---|---|---|---|---|
Arc A770 | 32 Xe-Core/512 EUs | 2100 MHz | 8/16 GB GDDR6 mit 17,5 Gbps, 256 Bit | 225 W |
Arc A750 | 28 Xe-Core/448 EUs | 2050 MHz | 8 GB GDDR6 mit 16 Gbps, 256 Bit | 225 W |
Arc A580 | 24 Xe-Core/384 EUs | 1700 MHz | 8 GB GDDR6 mit 16 Gbps, 256 Bit | 175 W |
Intel Arc: Performance
As with the rest of the graphics card presentation, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger keeps the performance of the graphics card short.
The competition, i.e. probably the RTX 3060 from Nvidia, is to be beaten by 65 percent in terms of ray tracing performance.
A foretaste of the performance of the A750, the smaller sister of the model presented today, can be found in a leaked benchmark.

Intel Arc: Should you bet on the new graphics cards?
After the rather modest release of the small Arc A380, it is understandable that many of you are skeptical about the new Intel graphics cards. The card didn’t even reach the level of Nvidia’s GTX 1650 or AMD’s Radeon RX 6400 in tests.
But Intel wants to do a lot better with the new midrange cards. The Arc A750, for example, should be around the same level as an RTX 3060 and can therefore play in the middle without having to hide.
Of course, a newcomer to the discrete graphics card market poses a higher risk when buying than relying on a well-known player like AMD or Nvidia. More than ever, it is therefore important to wait for independent tests of the new models with Arc cards and form your own opinion before buying. Especially since the official facts are still very thin.
In his article, my colleague Nils tells you what problems Intel Arc encountered during development and whether you still have to worry about them.
