Some time ago it became public that EA Motive was working on a new game about the superhero Iron Man. As has now become known, publisher Electronic Arts’ deal with Marvel includes other video games.
Both companies confirmed on Halloween today that they were able to successfully conclude a long-term partnership. The focus is on “the development of at least three new action games that will be available for consoles and PC,” it says in this context.
Electronic Arts has thus secured further gaming rights from Marvel and should therefore devote itself to other superheroes than just Iron Man. The new video games should each tell their own and new stories within the Marvel Universe.
The previously announced new Iron Man game from EA’s Motive Studio will start things off. It is not yet known when and under what name this title from the makers of the Dead Space remake will appear. The corresponding development team is led by Olivier Proulx, who has some Marvel experience to show for it. After all, he has worked on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy in the past. According to a report by Insider Gaming, a first internal playtest phase for the new Iron Man has already started and will last until November 2nd. EA Motive is hoping for feedback from this to determine the direction in which future development of the game should go.
However, no further details have been announced as to what the two newly confirmed titles will be. Only that it will be action games in all cases was made public in the course of the announcement.
