FF7 Remake 3 is being talked about again and it promises to be downright huge, bigger than any of the other Final Fantasy games in its trilogy. And once again more than any other Final Fantasy before it.
From the beginning, the return of Final Fantasy 7 was intended as a trilogy that would reach a climax with each new work. After a tough first remake that now seems very poor, FF7 Rebirth dealt a very serious blow when it released in 2024. Bigger, denser, more impressive… It surpasses its predecessor in almost every aspect and reshuffles the narrative side, delivering some highly anticipated answers in the process. So there is only one game left, FF7 Remake 3, which is being closely followed and eagerly awaited by fans. We still know very little about it, but what is certain is that we can expect the biggest game in the trilogy.
The final part of the trilogy will be discussed again
Whether you like the game or not, it is undeniable that FF7 Rebirth is far above the previous installment. Open world to explore, varied environments, more impressive and careful staging, improved gameplay, etc… the list of new features is long. But obviously we haven't seen anything yet as FF7 Remake 3 should do even better, and this isn't the first time the developers have said this. “It will be one of the most popular games of all time” or “the best game in the trilogy.”
Whenever the team behind FF7 Remake 3 talks, it's the same story. The next part of the trilogy is likely to surprise us in many ways. Yoshinori Kitase and director Naoki Hamaguchi, who are responsible for the game, spoke in the Gamerant columns following the Game Awards 2024. In addition to their return to the ceremony, the two men were quickly asked about FF7 Remake 3. I didn't want to say too much, but they weren't afraid to shower him with praise. For them it will simply be the biggest and grandest game in the trilogy and not an expansion of the entire license given the work.
FF7 Remake 3 will be huge, bigger than previous games
This time, however, you should take it at face value, as the creators are talking about the game map being much larger and denser. More specifically, Hamaguchi speaks. While he talks about the differences between each game, FF7 Remake focuses more on the narrative, FF7 Rebirth begins to open up the huge world, he tells us what we can expect from FF7 Remake 3. The developer claims that the game will be the largest part of the entire trilogy.
He indicates that the focus will be on freedom thanks to the Hightwind (“Hauvent” in French), the ship that we recover late in FF7 Rebirth. In the next part, Hautvent will be further developed and will allow us to discover the wide world. A world that will open up even more as a result. “We believe the third title will create an even larger map and players will enjoy it.” Hamaguchi explains. Shortly before, the man said he was very enthusiastic about the idea Players can explore more of the world of FF7 in the way they reinterpreted it. That's what he claims The teams are working hard to face new challenges. FF7 Remake 3 should therefore set the bar even higher when it comes to open world than Rebirth.
We still have a lot to discover
As huge as the Rebirth world map is, we are not completely free in our movements and it remains a large unexplored area, not to mention that if we compare it with the world map of the original Final Fantasy 7, there are a few more more regions are missing. FF7 Remake 3 could certainly eliminate these few shortcomings and expand its horizons. We can imagine discovering Yuffie's home region, Wutai, for example, which was just mentioned in the previous two games in the series. There is no release date for FF7 Remake 3 yet, not even a window. All we know is that the game is currently in development and will be released on consoles and PC.
