This true computer genius has a passion for programming and puzzles and took full advantage of the capabilities of the Russian computer Electronika 60 by creating small games. One day he decided to buy a puzzle, the Pentomino, and came up with a brilliant idea! Inspired by the latter, Tetris was born, a name derived from the fusion of “Tetraminos” (a geometric figure consisting of four squares) and “Tennis”, his favorite sport. At first it was just an internal project, but it quickly gained popularity among Soviet programmers and researchers. Alexey Pajitnov had no idea how disproportionate his game would become!
