you shouldn’t be able to pause Eldon Ring. This is pretty standard for a modern FromSoftware game, and the developers never really gave us any specific reason for the choice (other than “it makes the game harder”).
Possibly that option has been removed from the title because the developers didn’t want players to work in some of the more difficult areas, or it might be multiplayer related. Either way, we’ll reiterate that you shouldn’t be able to pause Elden Ring.
But alas, where there is a will it is accomplished. It turns out that a specific button will pause the game and all the action around you – if you need to go to the door, get your pet to stop chewing on your clothes, or any other real life issue that might stop you from having A moment of stillness from giving Elden Ring your full attention.
The pause option is hidden deep in the game menu.thanks Tweets by YouTuber Iron Pineapplewe’ve been able to confirm that navigating to this button does correctly pause the game – although we’re not sure how this affects Invasion and other online features.
Here’s how to do it yourself:
- Press Start/Options/ESC
- Navigate to a menu (e.g. device)
- Press back and bring up contextual options
- Select “Menu Description”
This will bring up a small screen explaining which part of the menu you are in, and pause what’s going on around you. Given that this almost certainly shouldn’t exist, we think FromSoft will address this in an upcoming game update. However, we will see.
