I've become the most toxic Diablo IV player, but I still have more friends than ever. I have already played Season of Witchcraft

I know I recently said that I was completely in love with the Witch from Path of Exile 2 and that she was much younger than the Necromancer from Diablo IV. And it was true. But Blizzard has once again sung its siren song… demonic, rather. I couldn't resist, so I returned to Sanctuary to play the Season of Witchcraft.

This time I have compelling reasons to return. This season's buffs are passive dark magic from three schools: destruction, psychic (walls), and status changes, both positive for healing and negative for damaging enemies. And if there is something that drives me crazy in RPGs, it is killing with minions and/or altered states such as poisons and curses without even a speck of mud touching me.

More toxic, but with more friends than ever

I have played a few hours Diablo IV: Season of Witchcraftenough to reach Level 40 and advance a few levels in the new Season Pass. I had read that this would be one of the worst to date, but the truth is that I think it is among the best. And I can already say that it is my favorite.

After trying the rest of the classes in the game, including the Spiritualist, I have accepted my true nature: I am a main Necromancer. It's the only class that really fun for me. And on top of that this season I have more reasons than ever to choose her because of the new witchcraft abilities. I use my army of minions to attack while passively applying poisons and other status ailments.

The best Hogwarts Legacy mission has made it clear to me that in the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king

My favorite witchcraft skill is called Servant Poison Frog and it is just what its name suggests: a frog that accompanies you permanently, that spits poison and explodes into a poison bomb when it dies. Returns after a cooldown.

This adorable little toxic frog joins the ranks of my army, currently consisting of nine skeletons (soldiers, mage and golem) and two mercenaries, Raheir and Adkin. There are a total of 12 servants under my command. I also added the Servant Bats (they appear every few seconds and burn the enemy) for the first few hours, but replaced them with other more interesting abilities. I complement my Rot Necromancer build with:

  • Increased Decay– All sorcery effects deal a higher percentage of status ailment damage for x seconds. The amount and type varies depending on the upgrade and class.
  • Absorption Aura– An aura that surrounds my necromancer and deals x poison damage per second.
  • Growth– All servants, minions, and companions temporarily become larger and deal more damage when I cast the ultimate.
  • Vital Link: My character is bonded to several monsters. When I take damage, I deal 1,100% (unbuffed) of the damage I take to them. And if it is upgraded, it increases the damage and makes it critical.

420 years ago the perfect character was born to star in a FromSoftware Souls. It's 2025 and no one has created it yet

I still have to unlock the seven most powerful dark magics, of which I think only one can help me: The Cycle, which makes flowers grow every so often on the ground. If an enemy steps on them, it deals poison damage. If an ally steps on them (I don't know if that includes NPCs), it heals them.

I've never had as much fun with the Necromancer as I do now, and the build isn't finished! I'm thinking about removing Increased Decay, since Diablo IV It does not indicate which altered effect corresponds to my class. I equipped it with poison in mind, but I think it does Shadow damage… which would be brutal for a Shadow damage based build. Maybe I'll try it later because there are a lot of benefits to this branch.

The best thing about all this is that all sorceries are passive and can be upgraded many times, and each upgrade can add anything from new effects to more damage. I don't want to imagine the brutalities that the community is going to do with these skills. Nor the power my Necromancer will have after a few more hours of farming. Nothing makes me happier than seeing my skeletons fighting against enemies stunned by my mercenaries and losing life at an alarming rate due to the absurd amounts of poison they eat per second. If you haven't played it yet, I recommend you check it out!
