In the Christian religion, the birth of Jesus is celebrated on the night of December 24th to 25th. Today SimulaM invites us to incarnate the Son of God and turn water into wine. This bodes well for the end-of-year celebrations! Unless the miracle promised by the studio is actually just a bad trick. We impersonated Jesus Christ in the prologue of I Am Jesus Christ, and here is the story of our adventure.
Jesus 3, the return
It is difficult to say whether the developers of SimulaM I Am developed Jesus Christ in the first or in the second degree. Officially, the studio to whom we owe a (Genesis-inspired) adaptation of Noah’s Ark couldn’t be more serious in its proposal. The promise is to put the player in Jesus’ shoes as they experience the exciting story of the Messiah from his birth to his resurrection. Playable on Steam, the prologue sets aside the Savior’s first 30 years to focus on his meeting with John the Baptist, which will lead him to his baptism, then to the episode of temptation while crossing the desert to begin the performance to ends of various miracles (water turned into wine, healing of a Roman officer’s son, etc.).
During his journey to the Holy Land, the player finds himself in a first-person walking simulator that recreates the most important events in the life of Jesus as told in the Bible. There is obviously a great deal of free interpretation, such as the moments when the Messiah is able, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to make boxes appear which he can capture from afar to send on golden orbs. Nonetheless, the suggestion is not uninteresting: the events narrated follow broadly those of the Bible, making I Am Jesus Christ a sort of more playful interactive experience that traces the life of the Savior. It’s not going to replace real religious education, but at least it has the merit of popularizing enough things to be understandable. Even if he made Jesus look like a comic book superhero.

That “gamification“Events depicted in the Bible are bound to make you smile. If we remove the passages where you just have to find NPCs to cut the fat, I Am Jesus Christ does its best to inject fun into a story that lacks it. For example, there’s a fiendish spherical creature that you have to face by sending its fireballs back to its head. There is also a scene that takes place in the body of a sick child where Jesus has to use his healing powers to destroy the virus. With its areas to be purged of evil and its physics engine based 3D platformer border crossings I Am Jesus Christ is inspired by what is being done elsewhere, without of course excelling in any area. The prologue is a series of gameplay-specific sequences that have at least the merit of adding variety to the experience.
