Keanu Reeves has been associated with video games since the beginning of his career. From Bill & Ted to The Matrix, the comedian has turned many of his big screen adventures into video games. And as Cyberpunk 2077 has shown, he has even played characters that have nothing to do with a movie. However, that doesn’t mean that Keanu Reeves is ready to appear in every game.
Keanu Reeves doesn’t want John Wick or Neo to show up in a Mortal Kombat game. the information is all that is more believable since it comes from the mouth of the actor himself. Keanu Reeves recently answered questions from the magazine’s website esquire
For now, it’s not Neo who is fatally
He was actually asked if he would have John Wick or the hero from The Matrix appear in a Mortal Kombat game. And for those interested in the idea, unfortunately, Keanu Reeves replied negatively:
What if the decision was mine? No. Mortal Kombat is great for a lot of reasons. But I think … you know … Neo … John Wick … They do their own things. And Mortal Kombat does its own thing …
Mortal Kombat and Keanu Reeves fans will have to be content with this vague answer, to say the least. In any case, his opinion seems to be clear. It also seems that the actor is looking for the most diplomatic way possible to answer this question.
That explains that?
This statement seems to be the solution of a more than two year old mystery. As a matter of fact, Ed Boon, the co-creator of Mortal Kombat, spoke in October 2019 about the guest characters he would have liked to include in Mortal Kombat 11 but was not allowed to include. The game’s director then announced that he wanted to use the same John Wick and Neo in Mortal Kombat 11. But that wasn’t possible.
Ed Boon hadn’t explained what got stuck at the time. However, it could be that Keanu Reeves vetoed the game’s development, and the actor obviously doesn’t seem keen on the idea of his characters appearing in the ultra-violent universe of Mortal Kombat.
As a reminder, many famous characters are featured in the Mortal Kombat 11 roster. Actors like Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Christophe Lambert or even Peter Weller have given the fighting game their looks and / or their voice. But don’t expect Keanu Reeves to join the club.
What do you think of these statements from Keanu Reeves? Do they disappoint you? Would you have liked to see John Wick or Neo in Mortal Kombat? Conversely, do you think that these characters are not clinging to the universe of the fighting game? Tell us all about it in the comments below.
