Nintendo announces release date Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
Starring Kirby, our lovable hero gains new abilities in this 3D platform adventure, set to release on Switch on March 25.
In the game, the cute pink lad travels to an unknown land and finds that Valderdis has been kidnapped by a pack of beasts. To rescue Waddle Dees, Kirby travels with Elfilin, whom he meets in the New World.
During your adventure, you’ll use Kirby’s range of abilities to fight enemies and navigate 3D environments. In a world where nature merges with past civilizations, you will face various platforming challenges. As you set out to free Waddle Dees, you’ll find them imprisoned at a target point at the end of each stage. You’ll want to explore every nook and cranny, saving as many Waddle Dees as possible along the way.
The Beast Pack that kidnapped Waddle Dees will face challenges, so in addition to Kirby’s ability to replicate, there are new additions to his repertoire. One is the drill copy ability, where you can go underground and attack enemies from below. There is also the Ranger copy ability, which allows him to attack enemies from a distance.
The game also supports cooperation. Here, the second player takes on the role of Bandana Waddle Dee, who can perform various attacks with a spear.
The game introduces Waddle Dee Town, a central hub. As you progress, the town will grow more and more based on the number of Waddle Dees you save. You’ll notice different shops open and be able to enjoy some citizen games. Kirby can even help out at the Waddle Dee Cafe. Here you need to prepare your customers’ orders quickly to keep them happy and earn high marks. You’ll also meet Wise Waddle Dee in the town of Waddle Dee, who will pass along helpful tips.
Additionally, with an internet connection, you can learn details based on global player data, such as the total number of Waddle Dees rescued worldwide and the most popular copy abilities currently.
This year also marks the 30th anniversary of the Kirby series.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land is now available for pre-order at select retailers and the Nintendo eShop for a suggested retail price of $59.99
