Gaming News Kojima’s Future Horror Video Game (Death Stranding) Shakes the Internet: What If It Was Silent Hills?
Hideo Kojima, the creator of Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding, loves terror and horror. The Japanese artist has been trying to shake up the genre for a long time, and his next project seems to follow that path. However, some have discovered that it could be a well-known license.
Hideo Kojima or the desire to break the codes
Hideo Kojima, a friend of Geoff Keighley, made the expected appearance during the Game Awards ceremony. Many expected that the famous Japanese designer would come and present new sequences of Death Stranding 2, but things turned out differently. In a short trailer lasting almost a minute and a half, viewers from all over the world were able to discover a video that recalled certain presentations from the Quantic Dream studio, in particular The Dark Sorcerer, an absolutely remarkable prototype presented just ten years ago. Years during E3, once the largest video game trade fair.
To make the scariest horror game, I watch the scary movies to awaken my horror soul. THE EYE is the Thai horror movie I rented when I was doing PT but it was too scary to watch to the end. The package is scary, so I just rented the CD. Will I be able to finish watching? pic.twitter.com/BVwPruUAvt

As expected, the technical performance was accompanied by the presence of real Hollywood personalities: Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schäfer and Udo Kier. At the same time, Hideo Kojima’s appearance on stage was followed a few minutes later by the arrival of director Jordan Peele. And once again the trailer presented only raised questions and puzzles. OD, which can also be called Overdose, is a horror project that promises to be spectacular. Based on Microsoft’s cloud gaming technology, OD would be an unprecedented transmedia experience, according to its creator. Half game, half film, the title was intended to take us to the “limits” of fear by playing with our phobias. And of course that makes us very curious… because Hideo Kojima, who always wanted to be a film director, is getting closer and closer to this dream. In any case, we are not ready yet.
It was noticed that some letters appear in the frames during the OD trailer. They form the word Atami, a city in Shizuoka, in JP it is 静岡
If we separate the kanjis and take their literal translation, we have:
静: quiet, quiet (quiet, quiet)
Oka: Colina (hill) pic.twitter.com/e47ESzlokM– Central Xbox (@centralxboxbr) December 11, 2023
ATAMI?
Hideo Kojima likes to put clues in these trailers and some didn’t hesitate to delve into every corner of the OD trailer to track them down. It turns out that Spanish website Central Xbox may have just dropped a bombshell! By analyzing the OD trailer, those interested discovered the presence of certain letters in the mouths of the characters or one of the protagonists. This is how they discovered the letters A, T, A, M and I or the word ATAMI. Atami in Japanese visibly refers to the city of Shizuoka in Japan and there is a priori no connection between the future game and the megalopolis of the Chūbu region on the island of Honshū. What makes it even more interesting is the fact that the word Atami consists of two kanji. And if we separate the two Japanese ideograms we get: still, quiet on one side and hill on the other. Do you see the surprise coming? Central Xbox assumes that this could be the Silent Hills project canceled by Konami in 2015, which was supposed to be directed by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro. At that time, the only experience associated with this new license was the exceptional PT, but the very complicated situation between Kojima and his old house caused the project to fail. Could it be that the Japanese director has found common ground with Konami to develop a real Silent Hill? Admit that the discovery is disturbing.
