It looks like the next musical performance that could be working with Fortnite is Lady Gaga.
According to the Fortnite Twitter account and leaker FNLeaksAndInfo, “a new collaborative emote” has been added in a recent update called “Jug Band,” which plays songs that sound like Lady Gaga as the four players get together to perform The songs of Poker Face are very similar, according to GameSpot.
FNLeaksAndInfo then posted a follow-up tweet, sharing the audio in question, and yes, it does sound like Poker Face, albeit more like a hillbilly pop song than the original.
Lady Gaga’s appearance in Fortnite doesn’t actually come as a surprise, as she was mentioned in documents shared in the Epic vs. Apple court case. It’s unclear if only the singer’s skin is planned for Battle Royale, or if there will be a full concert like Ariana Grande’s in the game.
More recently, Fortnite teamed up with the wildly popular manga and anime Dragon Ball, adding skins for protagonists Goku and Vegeta, as well as supporting characters Beerus and Bulma. The collaboration is now over, but the fact that Fortnite can feature both anime and real-world superstars shows you just how culturally relevant it is today.
In addition to this, Epic Games also announced a Pride-themed event called Rainbow Royale, adding a little LBGTQIA+ flair to the game. The Battle Bus is rainbow-themed and comes with bonus items like weapon skins. On top of that, Dreamer, the first TV transgender superhero character to appear in DC’s Supergirl, is available as an in-game skin.
Players who tune in to the in-game Rainbow Radio’s nito will also hear tracks from artists like Lady Gaga, which lends some credibility to the leak, as well as Lil Nas X, Kim Petras, and Janelle Monáe.
