Even many years after the original release, Riot Games is still delivering new heroes for the successful title League of Legends. Now, Naafiri, a Darkin Assassin, is coming to the MOBA.
Riot Games has announced Naafiri, the next new character for the MOBA League of Legends. The Darkin Assassin will make its home in the mid lane and is modeled after a pack of desert dogs.
Naafiri was destined to lead her own kind before she was encased in a blade and locked away deep beneath the Shurima desert. One fateful day, centuries later, she was freed and bound to a new host: the Dune Hounds. Naafiri realized that the pack’s collective consciousness would be invaluable to her plans. While her brothers and sisters fought individually and suffered defeat, Naafiri fights with the strength she draws from the unity, community, and combined strength of the pack. She now strives to unite her own kind and will mercilessly tear apart anyone who stands in her way.
So much for the thematic background, but how does Naafiri make the middle lane unsafe in the future? Riot Games has also presented the skills in detail:
- Passive ability – We are more – Naafiri creates a pack member that attacks enemies she targets, dealing physical damage. Damage is increased after using an ability. Cooldown decreases when Naafiri hits champions with her abilities or kills enemies.
- Q – Dagger of the Dark Ones – Naafiri throws blades that deal physical damage and bleed. This ability can be reactivated. If enemies hit are already bleeding, they take the remaining bleed damage instead, plus additional physical damage and damage based on the amount of missing health. If the target hit is a champion, Naafiri restores some health. Packmates lunge at the first target hit, prioritizing champions.
- W – Blutjagd – After a short delay, Naafiri jumps to an opponent. She deals damage and briefly slows her target or the first champion hit. The range of this ability increases with the level of the ult. Pack members are untargetable during the ability and walk alongside Naafiri. Damage dealt is increased per pack member.
- E – expand – Naafiri charges forward, damaging enemies in her path before the pack suddenly splits outward, dealing additional damage. The pack is recalled to Naafiri and fully healed.
- R – The call of the pack – Naafiri buffs her packmates and briefly summons additional packmates. Afterward, Naafiri gains increased out-of-combat movement speed, sight, and a shield. When she is involved in a kill for the first time, all ult effects are reset.
Naafiri will lead her pack through Summoner’s Rift in patch 13.14.
