Cyberpunk 2077’s next-gen upgrade has been long-awaited. Now a current leak promises that the release is imminent – and also presents the alleged new cover artwork.
The information is unconfirmed but comes from what is usually a very reliable source, namely PlayStation Game Size, who regularly pull info from the PS database. The site now shares this picture on Twitter:

How credible are the rumors and what do they mean for Patch 1.5?
Cyberpunk 2077: NextGen upgrade supposedly soon
When will the NextGen upgrade be released? The Twitter account estimates the release at mid-February to early March. The version was originally supposed to be released in 2021, but was then postponed to the first quarter of 2022. A release in spring was also officially planned – and that a cover artwork appears in the system should be a good sign.
What does the cover artwork show? The allegedly leaked image shows the already known version of V with a pink sidecut and a samurai jacket. The background is the eye-friendly neon yellow that graces most of Cyberpunk 2077’s official posts. Night City is outlined behind V. At first glance, the picture looks pretty high-quality and the style fits in perfectly with previous artworks. We therefore consider a forgery to be unlikely – a talented artist would have had to put a lot of effort into that.

What is known about the new version? PlayStation Game Size does not yet provide any information on the installation size of the next-gen version. So far there is only talk of a PS5 edition, but the upgrade for Xbox should appear at the same time and content. Presumably, the NextGen version will contain graphics improvements as well as the small DLCs that have been released so far.

Cyberpunk 2077: How to continue with updates and DLCs
Will the NextGen upgrade come with patch 1.5?
It has been known for some time that a major patch for Cyberpunk 2077 is pending. With update 1.5, the developers want to bring further improvements for all players. However, we still don’t know anything concrete about the content (more DLCs coming?) or the release date.
However, an update on Steam recently raised hopes that the patch would appear soon. So it only makes sense that the NextGen version and update 1.5 will appear at the same time.
If the leak turns out to be true and Cyberpunk 2077 actually releases the next-gen upgrade around mid-February, then Night City will have to compete against strong open-world competition: both the Elden Ring and Horizon Forbidden West. It remains to be seen which life-threatening world players will give their time to.
