Those hoping to get into The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom might want to be careful, as the ROM appears to have been leaked.

It seems like you can’t go online without being wary of spoilers these days, and as leak culture continues to flourish, avoiding spoilers is becoming increasingly difficult. Now, a ROM for Nintendo’s next entry in the Legend of Zelda series, Echoes of the Wisdom, appears to have leaked online (via Eurogamer). Earlier this week, YouTuber Nintendo Prime posted a video claiming that they saw a link to a ROM containing the entire game online and have “confirmed” it is authentic. Nintendo Prime has not shared any leak videos online, noting that they only confirmed it “as part of my job” and told fans to “stop asking” because pirating is “illegal and can ruin careers.”

Others have also confirmed the ROM leak is real, with Zelda content creator Zelda Lore writing on his Twitter: “Warning! Echoes of the Wisdom has been leaked. Someone has already played it on an emulator. Be careful if you don’t want to be spoiled.” A quick scan of the internet doesn’t seem to reveal much about the game so far, though I saw elsewhere that the game’s opening title screen has been shared (no, I’m not leaking it, I’m not getting caught by Nintendo snipers today, thank you very much). A similar thing happened with Kingdom of Tears last year, which ultimately led to the development of Nintendo Switch emulator Yuzu being halted, with its lead developer having to pay Nintendo $2.4 million.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, the first mainline game in the series that lets you play as the princess herself, is due out in two weeks, on September 26.
