We return to mysterious trips to exotic places and new enemies appear with a plan to reveal. What’s more, we are still not clear how Goku ended up recovering his youthful appearance, although without a tail, but the key to this initiative is more than clear: returning to the original Dragon Ball formula. See how a mischievous and exceptionally strong little boy with a passion for martial arts gets into new troubles in search of adventure.
And we are not going to deny it: the why may not matter, or it may not, but Dragon Ball Daima It has something that will make the difference: like the manga, the series has been written by Akira Toriyama himself. And the character designs, as you will see, also bear his signature.
Toriyama drew not-so-old acquaintances and new enemies
Taking advantage of the panel of the great event dedicated to Dragon Ball Daima, Iyoku showed off several new illustrations with annotations from Akira Toriyama himself. What’s more, the successful author presented the full-length designs of characters well known to fans of Dragon Ball and others completely original.
In fact, unlike the Dragon Ball GT series, Goku will not be the only one who will have his childlike appearance again: Krillin will once again be as short as those days when they trained together with Master Roshi. And not only that, since Toriyama will also show little Vegeta or Kaio Shin.
The head and body are smaller, making their uniform appear somewhat baggier. The expression on his face also changes. By the way, I think Vegeta and Kaio Shin should be the same size.
On the other hand, one of the greatest curiosities is that we will see for the first time as children characters that were introduced as adults in Dragon Ball, like Mr. Satan (without a mustache) or Android 18. The particular thing is that even Majin Buo has a chubby appearance instead of showing himself with Little Buo’s original appearance. And that, as we have seen on occasion, his powers allow him to shape his appearance.
In any case, completely unpublished designs and characters were also shown throughout the panel, including the new enemies – still unnamed – that Son Goku faces during the trailer. Aliens or demons? Akio Iyoku did not want to give any details, but it seems that there is a faction that will complicate things for our little protagonist. At the risk of being wrong, and knowing Toriyama, we bet that they will be named after food or underwear.
Iyoku admitted that Toriyama’s designs seemed taken from a JRPG video game, and no wonder: the author of Dragon Ball has designed and created worlds for sagas such as Dragon Quest, Chrono Trigger or Blue Dragon, among others. Will we see an official video game from this new series? For now, we already know that the characters will end up reaching those that are announced and in progress.
