Never more charging? Chinese e -car batteries soon invite you in minutes – quickly like refueling! What Catl & BYD plan and what that means for the driver.

If you drive an electric car and have no wallbox at home, you spend more time with the battery store, as would be the case when refueling a car with an incinerator. A shortcoming that, in the opinion of many experts, could be one of the reasons why many people still struggle with electromobility.
The car and battery manufacturers also know that. Example BYD: The company, which grew up through the manufacture of batteries and is now a huge automobile manufacturer, continues to focus on developing loading and battery technology.
The ultimate goal, which also pursues e-car manufacturers NIO with its exchange battery principle, is: charging an electric car should not take longer than a tank process. The Chinese company Catl (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited) also works on this goal and announced: We are on.
The name Naxtra hears a new battering generation from Catl. It is not the known lithium-ion cells, but so-called sodium-ion batteries. At the beginning of the year, the Yadea company already presented the first e-scooter with sodium battery. The technology promises a variety of advantages: it is cheap in production, robust and extremely powerful.
The Naxtra batteries should offer an energy density of 175 watt hours per kilogram and be particularly safe. At an event, Catl drilled into a battery with a drill and cut it in the middle with a saw without a thermal reaction.
According to the manufacturer, the Naxtra batteries should lead to the prices of e-cars will drop in the medium term without the future buyer to reckon with compromises in terms of performance and reach.
480 kilometers in 5 minutes
In addition to the Naxtra batteries on sodium-ion-based, Catl also presented its next generation of LFP accumulators (lithium iron phosphate). She listens to the name Shenxing and offers impressive key data, especially for the loader rates. As an example, Catl cited the ability to load unloaded electric cars with 1,000 kW. And even if the batteries were filled over 50 percent, loading rates beyond the 500 kW mark would be possible.
In other words, the battery cells can save a range of 482 kilometers within 5 minutes – depending on the model. This would actually not take a charging process longer than a tank process. You can read further news from the field of electromobility at this point.
