fallen lord Finally got the first gameplay trailer, and the game’s release date is locked in October of this year.
Do you need something like a soul to get excited and keep you going while you wait for the proper reveal of Elden Ring’s DLC? Developer Hexworks has finally given us a gameplay trailer for the Lords of the Fallen reboot, showing what you can expect when the game launches on October 13th–the release date is also revealed in the trailer.
Not surprisingly, it looks like a Souls game! A big, expansive fantasy setting, difficult and scary bosses, people spouting dialogue at you, you’re definitely telling you some kind of story, but you’ll just wait until some YouTuber pulls it all together, and then Watch instead of trying to figure it out yourself. It’s all there, for some reason it’s set to Iron Maiden’s Fear of the Dark, and yes I guess heavy metal as a genre makes sense, but it does feel a bit weird tonally.
While this isn’t just raw gameplay, so we don’t know exactly how it will play out, it looks promising! Nothing necessarily blows your mind, but hey, sometimes you just want to dodge big enemies and die a bunch without thinking too much about it.
Lords of the Fallen is a reboot of the 2014 game of the same name, which was originally released in 2015 but was officially re-released as a reboot at last year’s Gamescom Opening Night Live. The game takes place more than a thousand years after the events of the first game, so it could also serve as a sequel, and it’s also five times larger than the original.
You’ll be able to play Lords of the Fallen on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC when it launches on October 13.
