A few months later, the Lost Ark community seemed to be full of back-to-back hot topics, and a community manager on the official forum posted a long post asking the community to be more civilized in expressing their feedback on the game.
It’s worth noting that this comes after a recent update that brought Glaivier, and a new area for players to explore, but with that comes ongoing issues around free fast pass and bot issues and Other ongoing issues.
This has all resulted in an environment of official forums and other popular gaming hubs, including subreddits, filled with disgruntled comments about community managers working on games. At the beginning of the post, community moderator Shadow_Fox wrote: “CMs are people. We have human feelings. We also have human schedules. Most of us are Monday-Friday 9-5 PT. Some of us, Like myself, on weekends and evenings. We take sick days. And holidays. We have days off and days off.
“We share the information we are allowed to (as with any company and CM relationship), and if we don’t, it’s not the deeper meaning or the big secret, we just don’t have that information at the time. Yes, we made mistakes. Yes, things have changed. This is not a personal vendetta against players.”
The post goes on to explain that the team is continuing to learn and adapt to the current issues, and that players’ complaints have not gone unnoticed. They also go to great lengths to describe the role of the community manager as “a bridge between the community and the brand,” and then ask users not to direct their hatred or frustration at someone in that position.
“I’m not asking for a high five, just…please be as nice as possible. To the CM, to each other. It makes gathering feedback a lot more enjoyable, and when you’re mean to it, your feedback doesn’t make a difference. Commitment.”
It remains to be seen whether those unhappy with the current state of the Lost Ark will take this request to heart. Obviously, it would be wrong to take anger on the internet to people who weren’t involved in the issues that caused this frustration in the first place. There is no point in shooting the messenger! Hopefully things will improve over time as work on the MMO continues.
