A new – surprisingly transparent – post addressing Lost Ark progress, future updates and bots has been posted on the official Lost Ark news page. Offering a fairly clear and concise roundup of the popular free-to-play MMORPG and its players, some key changes will affect both casual players and core parts of the base.
The bulk of this post is focused on the first two points – progress and future updates. It has been revealed that the vast majority of players have been working through the game’s tier 1 and 2 content at their own pace – exploring islands, leveling up alts, farming adventure logs, picking up makoko seeds, etc… The context provided in the post builds in addition to being challenging In addition to the sexual tertiary content, a large amount of early tier content has been added to appeal to both casual and hardcore gamers.
However, this approach apparently resulted in an unfortunate side effect. In the March update, Abyssal Raid Argos was released, and it required a high item level that only those with a lot of time or money could achieve at launch. This has led some players to believe Lost Ark players, which according to the post is an idea the developers wanted to remove.
“We made the mistake of releasing the March game update too soon after launch. The data we analyzed with their previously released Smilegate RPG predicted that the majority of players would be at the level needed to challenge Argos. However, we ignored Some variables, such as players spending more time on lateral content, and higher prices for grinding materials due to bots and real money trading.
These factors have contributed to the scarcity of T3 honing materials. Our teams at Amazon Games and Smilegate RPG will continue to collect data on game modes in Western versions to better inform our future content roadmap. ”
From here, the post goes on to state that future updates will focus on taking players through pre-existing content and pushing them to the next level, rather than adding more top-tier content to a smaller, more dedicated player base. While there’s still a plethora of content in the final game, it’ll also come along with new classes, islands, and continents.
New skins and classes
Additionally, the post identified the new cosmetic skins and advanced classes as much-needed additions that the community wanted sooner rather than later. While they note that new skins are hard to roll out faster, and they’re “releasing skins at a faster pace than they were originally in Korea,” the team is closely monitoring feedback on this. As for the new courses, these will be added at a faster rate and some new options are coming soon.
Robots and material shortages
As mentioned, there is currently a shortage of Tier 3 materials in the game. However, bots have made the problem worse, leading to skyrocketing prices and increased barriers to endgame content.
To address this, additional sources of material have been added throughout the game through pre-existing resources (Guardian Raids, Rubik’s Cubes, etc.) and new events (such as Grand Prix and new events designed to make it easier Guardian Raids) version of the source mode . Additionally, measures have been taken against bots with mass bans, which hopefully will lower prices and lead to a better user experience.

Finally, as a thank you to the community for sticking with the game, all players who log in during the week of March 21st will receive a Care Pack full of goodies. These include:

All in all, woke up this morning as a Lost Ark player and this post was a big surprise. Acknowledging the issues affecting the player base while identifying what changes are coming is a great way to make people feel like they’re being heard. Sure, it’s nice to throw a bunch of free stuff your way, but more importantly, it goes a long way in validating those players who stick with Lost Ark after the release hype has died down.
