Even years later, Skyrim still fascinates players. Proof of this is this extensive content that changes many things.
Almost thirteen years after its release, Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim continues to captivate gamers thanks to its rich and, above all, immersive universe. While the atmosphere and skill-based progression system are still impressive, the combat system is a bit dated. In this context, the modder JaySerpa intervenes, offering a mod that is intended to revive combat in Skyrim. That’s THE good idea.
Skyrim with 2024 sauce?
As reported pcgamesnthis new mod titled Stress and anxietyenriches the combat experience by introducing two new status conditions that affect characters: Stress and Fear. It’s like Port-Salut, it’s written on it. These states modify gameplay by adding handicaps or debuffs that affect how players must manage their character.
The stress system aims to encourage players to take breaks between battles and engage in other in-game activities. When a character suffers from stress, their magic and stamina values decrease. To restore these skills, the player must engage in relaxing activities such as fishing, petting a dog, having a drink, eating a hot meal, sleeping, or spending time at an inn in Skyrim. This system encourages players to diversify their activities and enjoy more of the game’s atmosphere. A great idea, we have to admit.
Furthermore, the fear system introduces a deeper psychological dimension. For example, if a player survives a particularly difficult fight and is almost killed, they may develop a phobia towards that enemy. This results in a 25% reduction in damage dealt to that particular enemy and a reduced field of vision when fighting them. To overcome this phobia, the player must face and defeat the feared enemy, permanently increasing the damage dealt against this enemy type by 10%.
