The next big film in Sony’s Spider-Man universe is revealed. And despite the different trailers and the new excerpt available, there are bound to be divisions.
Soon, Sony’s famous Spider-Man universe, which has already spawned Venom, Morbius and Venom 2, will be expanded with the release of Madame Web. It is important to note that Madame Web is not part of the MCU, as this universe was created in collaboration with Marvel Entertainment for the characters, but it is not Marvel that directly handles it. Anyway, the superheroine will hit theaters on February 14, 2024, just in time for Valentine’s Day. So it’s time to discover a new trailer in the form of a video excerpt.
Madame Web, new Spider-Man spin-off
Given the rather mediocre quality of Morbius and the more than divided opinions about Venom 1 and Venom 2, the concern for Madame Web is quite significant. On social networks, many viewers express their doubts by explaining that they are neither particularly enthusiastic about the various trailers nor the film project itself. However, the superheroine is quite an interesting character. As a reminder, Madame Web’s real name is Cassandra Webb and she has clairvoyant and telepathic abilities that allow her (in the film) to meet Julia Carpenter, Mattie Franklin and Anya Corazon, three future Spider-Womans. Currently, Sony’s Spider-Man universe has been quite male, so this new female touch and this large cast of female superheroes is a breath of fresh air.
Although Madame Web isn’t directly set in the MCU, there is a connection across the same multiverse, according to the film Spider-Man: No Way Home. In theory, this means that it could be possible to see one of the well-known Spider-Mans in the film. However, no current rumors indicate such an appearance. It’s more likely that the film only contains a subtle reference rather than a full-fledged cameo. Given that “Madame Web” is the first film of its kind, director SJ Clarkson could focus more on introducing the main characters rather than risk overshadowing her superheroines with an already very famous character.
For your part, what do you think about this upcoming film? Do you think a Spider-Man appearance as a surprise or post-credits scene is possible?
