The MagentaTV Smart Flex TV package combines the advantages of the Smart and Flex subscriptions with 150 HD channels, RTL+ Premium and a flexible duration. We’ll give you an overview.

1. Channels, features and costs

2. Ideal for football events

3. UHD reception with MagentaTV Smart Flex

If you want the full HD program from MagentaTV Smart without having to commit to MagentaTV for 24 months, the Smart Flex tariff might be the ideal choice for you. It combines the TV and streaming content and functions of MagentaTV Smart 2.0 with the short term of the Flex subscription, but at the same time offers more than the Basic subscription.

The pure Flex tariff 2.0 lacks premium access to the RTL+ streaming service and only offers 50 hours of recording storage instead of 100. MagentaTV Smart 2.0 offers significantly more, but as a Telekom Internet customer or with another connection you can only book it for two years and therefore have to commit to the tariff for a long time. With MagentaTV Smart Flex you get the best of both tariffs, but avoid the disadvantages mentioned.

If you choose MagentaTV Smart Flex, you can watch the included 150+ HD channels on up to three screens at the same time, just like with the Smart tariff. With the Flex tariff, however, you are limited to a maximum of two parallel streams for many contents.

MagentaTV Smart Flex: channels, features and costs

In contrast to the two separate tariffs, the combination of MagentaTV Smart and Flex costs 15 dollars per month instead of 10. However, you also combine the advantages of both subscriptions and can cancel every month as soon as you want to save on streaming costs. The following overview tells you everything you need to know about the tariff:

• Monthly charges: 15 dollars (without Telekom Internet)
• Minimum term: 1 month
• TV channel: 180+
• HD quality: 150+ Sender
• UHD quality: Only with MagentaTV hardware, 100 MBit/s internet required
• Simultaneous streams: 3
• MagentaTV+ (Megathek): Yes
• Time-shifted television: Ja (Timeshift, Restart)
• Recording memory: 100 hours
• Mobile use: Yes
• Telekom connection required: No
• Hardware inklusive: No (additional booking possible)
• Compatible devices: Magenta TV One (1st and 2nd generation), Magenta TV Stick, Apple TV HD / 4K, Fire TV, Chromecast with Google TV, SmartTVs from Samsung, LG or Sony, PC and Mac browsers, iOS and Android mobile devices

MagentaTV Smart Flex: Ideal for football events

MagentaTV is the only provider to show all matches of the 2024 European Football Championship, while the streaming service RTL+ Premium, which is included in the subscription, provides access to matches of the UEFA Europa League and Conference League.

If there is currently no World Cup or European Championship on MagentaTV in UHD and the ball is not being broadcast in the European club competitions, you can also simply pause your MagentaTV Smart Flex subscription. With the MagentaSport add-on option, you can also watch the 3rd league and here too you can choose a monthly cancellation option if required.

If you want to receive the widest possible range of live sports, you can also book DAZN and WOW through Telekom with MagentaTV. However, the Smart Flex tariff only offers you the combination package, which can be cancelled monthly, with significantly lower savings.

UHD reception with MagentaTV Smart Flex: Additional costs for hardware

Football in UHD has become MagentaTV’s speciality and is otherwise only shown sporadically. After all, the Telekom service is showing the entire 2024 European Championship in UHD, while only selected Bundesliga or Champions League matches can be seen in UHD picture quality on Sky for an additional charge.

You can also occasionally watch top European football in the best resolution via the UHD version of RTL included in MagentaTV Smart Flex – but only via a Telekom receiver, for which you have to pay a monthly rental fee.

Telekom reserves its UHD channels for all MagentaTV users who add 3 to 5 dollars per month to the subscription fee with the MagentaTV One-Box or the MagentaTV Stick. A UHD football festival for the 2024 European Championship with Magenta Smart Flex is linked to Telekom’s rental hardware, as is reception of the Europa League on RTL UHD.

App reception with MagentaTV Smart Flex on numerous devices from Fire TV to smartphones or PC browsers is practical, but you are simply denied UHD resolution regardless of your internet bandwidth.
