Are you a fan of the cult series “Indiana Jones”? These two new features, which will be released in the coming weeks, should pique your interest.
Although Indiana Jones 5 would have been a massive flop, costing Disney and Lucasfilm a whopping $134.2 million in losses, the franchise will never lose its crown in the adventure film genre. Even if certain episodes are still so controversial today, this is a real Proust Madeleine and nothing will change that. This success is thanks to the great Harrison Ford in the lead role, Steven Spielberg and Georges Lucas, but also, and this is worth mentioning, John Williams. The fabulous composer who recently called off his retirement.
Collector of the magical music of Indiana Jones
John Williams’ music generally stays with you once heard, even after a single viewing. Anyone can hum the themes “Jaws,” “Star Wars,” “Jurassic Park,” “The Extra-Terrestrial,” or “Indiana Jones.” Epic soundtracks that invite adventure and have contributed significantly to the appreciation of all these monuments of cinema. And there’s excellent news for both fans of these soundtracks and collectors.
In a few weeks, Universal Music plans to release vinyl editions of Indy and the Temple of Doom – already celebrating its 40th anniversary – as well as Indy and the Last Crusade. No big announcement at the moment, but the resellers have put the files of these original tapes online. These two editions contain the main illustrations of each film and comprise 22 and 19 tracks respectively, spread over four discs… colorful? There is no information on this, but based on common practice there is a possibility that this is the case.
While we wait for details, the vinyls with the music from Indiana Jones 2 & 3 can be pre-ordered for $34.20 each. It’s a relatively cheap price for the number of discs, so don’t hesitate to grab a copy if the price goes up in the coming weeks. This will be available from May 17, 2024 unless there is a delay.
