To start, there are eight new tracks in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as part of two new cup races. Most of these tracks have been salvaged from previous Mario Kart games and redesigned to fit the style of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but one track is brand new! The Cup and its associated tracks are as follows:
cherry cup
- L.A. Circle (Mario Kart Tour)
- Sunset Wild (Mario Kart Super Speedway)
- Cape Koopa (Mario Kart Wii)
- Vancouver Speed (Mario Kart Tour)
feather cup
- Athens Dash (Mario Kart Tour)
- Daisy Cruiser (Mario Kart: Double Dash!!)
- Moon View Highway (Mario Kart Wii)
- clean sprint
I’m not a huge fan of the Mario Kart Tour tracks, even though they do draw inspiration from some scenic real-life locations. I’m happy to see Moonview Highway from Mario Kart Wii make the cut, though; it’s no Waluigi pinball game, but it’s a great track for drifting. We’ll have to wait until July 12 to test the track, though.
In addition to these new classes, you can also look forward to welcoming new characters: Petey Piranha, Kamek and Wiggler.
Kamek is a fan-favorite villain who serves as Bowser’s advisor and one of the most powerful mem bers of Koopa’s forces. Alongside him is Petey Piranha, a mutated piranha plant antagonist who first appeared in Sunshine Mario. Last but not least, we’ll also welcome the adorable wiggly caterpillar, a charming caterpillar that gets very angry when someone gets in its way, so it’s sure to be a lot of fun to race with.
Now, Nintendo, give us some new karts to ride! What are your thoughts on Wave 5 of the Booster Course Pass DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe? Is there a track or character you’re particularly looking forward to trying?
