Marketing fail causes confusion about the next update

Many websites are currently reporting that the release will now be imminent – but this is just poorly thought-out marketing.

What happened? Since July 7, advertising trailers for an upcoming cyberpunk patch have been shown to many people on various platforms, such as Instagram and YouTube. The videos talk about the biggest update so far, and there is also much more to come. Many fans therefore expect patch 1.3 to be released soon.

That’s behind the promotional videos: Upon request from Eurogamer.pl CD Projekt rejected all reports and rumors about the hypothetical biggest update and stressed that all news from various gaming websites about it was untrue.

According to the developers, the promotional videos are only intended to be a marketing campaign to remind players of the 1.2 update and the fact that Cyberpunk 2077 is available for purchase in various online stores for PC, Xbox and PlayStation players is. Information on future updates should continue to be published on the official website and not in Instagram advertisements.

But one cannot reproach the hopeful players, because Update 1.2 was released at the end of March. Marketing this with a new advertising campaign now more than three months after its appearance is therefore quite confusing – especially for fans who have been waiting a long time for the next content patch.
