Lately there has been some speculation on the net again regarding Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Among other things, it was about a possible closer presentation at the beginning of the new year as well as a potential release period. At least for the latter, Sony has now released further details.
On the official PlayStation Blog a small preview of the upcoming highlights for the PlayStation 5 has been published in the new year 2023 – and logically the sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man is also mentioned. While in German version of the PlayStation Blogs
The sequel to Insomniac Games’ PlayStation-exclusive blockbuster released in 2018 will be released in autumn 2023, as Sony Interactive Entertainment has now confirmed there. A statement by Bryan Intihar, the creative director of the game, was published there, which in the German version of the PlayStation Blog so far missing. There it says:
“What a year it has been for PlayStation Studios, here at Insomniac Games we are absolutely amazed by the work our colleagues are doing. Congratulations to all on a successful 2022… and to an equally exciting year to come as we continue working towards releasing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 next fall.”
The bottom line is that the release period has been noticeably further limited. As was almost to be expected, Sony and Insomniac chose the best-selling Christmas quarter for the release of the action sequel.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was previously officially announced as part of the PlayStation Showcase in September 2021. Both Peter Parker and Miles Morales will star in the title. Morales starred in the 2020 spin-off Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales for the first part from 2018.
