The new signing for the series of The Last of Us that HBO is preparing is second to none: after playing Marlene in the two deliveries from the homonymous video game, the actress Merle Dandridge will resume its role. This time, to lead the fireflies on the small screen.
Via the official Twitter account Naughty Dog has announced the addition of Dandridge to the already confirmed cast, which will be led by a seasoned survivor Joel played by Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian) and a young Ellie whom will give life Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones).
The Last of Us, the series, takes as a premise the playstation video game to introduce us to Joel and Ellie, two travelers forced to march through a North America plagued by a deadly pandemic. On their way, mutations, survivors capable of any madness and a society whose moral pillars have been reduced to rubble.
Marlene is a character of enormous relevance in the plot of The Last of Us, and that gives an additional value to the choice of a Dandridge that, by the way, is already possible to see on HBO Max when participating in The Flight Attendant. Which translates into a double success for seriéphiles and fans of the video game.
Behind the scenes there are also reasons to have high expectations for the series: production is in the hands of Craig Mazin (to whom we owe Chernobyl) and Naughty Dog’s own Neil Druckmann. Of course, the emerging PlayStation Studios -who is also developing the movie of Uncharted– also it is involved in adaptation.
HBO’s adaptation of The Last of Us It does not have a release date yet. However, it is already positioned as one of the great proposals that will cover the increasingly interesting catalog of HBO Max, the service of Video on Demand by Warner.
