game news Metal Gear Solid: Get ready to enjoy a remaster of all kinds in the coming months. Konami may not stop at MGS 3
Is the Metal Gear Solid license about to take center stage again? After the announcement of the Snake Eater remake and the upcoming release of the Master Collection, the company may continue to re-release MGS games.
The war has changed
Players took it well during the Summer Game Fest: Metal Gear Solid is indeed back. Konami used the event for the unveiling Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake EaterRemake of the third opus of the license, as well Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1an anthology with the first three Metal Gear Solid in rem astered version.
Metal Gear Solid is clearly one of the most famous licenses in the history of video games, but Konami has gradually put it aside after the departure of Hideo Kojima, its creator. This year players can find Solid Snake (and Liquid Snake by the way) as well as Naked Snake, the great heroes of this epic. However, it’s possible that the return of its iconic characters will come in two stages.
A master collection vol. 2 already planned?
In total, the Metal Gear Solid license consists of six main works: Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (the three games included in Master Collection Vol.1) as well as Metal Gear Solid 4: Weapons of the Patriots, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker etc Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (as well as its predecessor Ground Zeroes). Its six games relate to the most important events of the license timeline. And it may well be that after the Master Collection, Konami will decide to come full circle with a Volume 2 that brings together the last three games mentioned.
Nothing is confirmed at this time, but the mention of “Volume 1” of the Master Collection already hinted at the arrival of more works in a remastered version. On Twitter, user Nitroid provides further evidence of the existence of these remasters.
The new Metal Gear Solid website now includes buttons linking games from Master Collection Vol. 1 to the (license) timeline, but if you look at the site there are also slots for Metal Gear Solid 4, Peace Walker and Metal Gear Solid V.
Nitroid also adds that the portal dedicated to Metal Gear Solid has been “massively updated” and that the active timeline links now lead to entirely new game pages. Therefore, all these changes and the suspected existence of buttons for the last three works of the license point to a possible release of remaster versions. This is also quite logical given the strategy presented by Konami for the license and the name of the collection planned for next October. case follows!
